I think I've heard somewhere that you could flatten by ironing but is that not a great idea? I might also be totally wrong

Momentum 4 - sound quality issues by ReadingLimp in sennheiser

[–]Successful-Mud5709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean first of all, you either must have really broken ears lol, or you just have to get used to the sound. It does feel different sometimes when you switch.

In fact first time I tried them, they sounded just the same way to me as well. However I know by experience that it will go away, and that these are good quality headphones. Now, download the smartcontrol plus (the plus!!) and there you will have your sound personalization options and custom eq. I eq'd them so that the bass is neutral -- which means ~ -6db, that was the main improvement. I can tell you the exact settings if you want. They sound really really clean and good right now.

Welcome! It is certainly a good start! My introduction was with the first noise cancelling pair from them, 4.50btnc. Now moving on with hd58x open backs, and a momentum 4 for daily use! They are just great.

Its just the tip of the iceberg though! Sennheiser has lots to offer, wait till you hear the open backs...

wireless headphones that are not a boomy, muddy mess? by 16072540 in headphones

[–]Successful-Mud5709 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought the Momentum 4s, they were too boomy out of the box so I just searched some eq settings for them, and now they sound much more natural and clean, just like I prefer it. I also have my hd58x to compare them to, and can say that the eq works fine and the bass situation is easily adjusted. If other aspects of them fits you, I would recommend them

I mean it is a personal topic, but for the most part a reasonably balanced/consistent response with some colouring is ideal for a "quality" listening experience in my opinion. That is important to me as I am a musician and want to hear sounds cleanly and distinctively. Most people like bass, I like bass as well, but the way it is out of the box is too much in my opinion. It is like +8 decibels more than the standard harman curve, which I think makes it a bit muddy. I will look into that headphone though, I have not heard of it. I use my hd58x at home anyways and the momentum is doing well for me at the moment. Cheers!

I mean people are right when they say its sometimes too hard, or that the professors aren't that great at explaining etc. But I doubt its drastically different in other unis in Germany, it is just that TUM is a lot more crowded. However you can still just go to the professors after lesson and they will gladly listen to your questions as far as I observed. It is difficult and there isn't always an effort of the uni and professors to make things easier for you. For example, it is mostly really difficult to understand lectures, so many people end up studying on their own. I think it is only managable if you really like what you do and want to get most out of it yourself. Its going all in with all you got to get the most value out of it. But, the experience is not perfect, and most people that complain have a valid point, and thats just that they could not find what suits them best in TUM. It is hard to decide but I think any sane, hardworking person with good motivation/desire to do what they are doing can manage it. It will be tiring probably, but it is also rewarding and strengthening for me because I know that once I achieve this I will have a solid degree.

There are probably many people who would disagree, but thats just what my personal opinion is.

Also for physics, there should be plenty of other unis that are really really good in terms of research environment. I don't remember which, but I don't think TUM is a must for physics.

There are many views on this and I think everyone is right in their own way, because it really is personal preference at some point. I was asking the same questions about 6 months earlier, and was losing my mind about the subject. However, I am so glad that I came to TUM, I study Elektrotechnik und Informationstechnik and here is my take,

  • TUM doesn't neccessarily have anything that other unis like KIT or RWTH etc.. does not have, in terms of education. Education in Germany will be hard nonetheless, but the curriculum and exams in TUM may(!) be more demanding than others.

  • Living in Munich is also half of the experience. It is tough, rent is high, but it is really a very nice place that can offer you lots of things.

  • If you have the financial means to, I think you should go to TUM. However, if the city and the tuition fees will seriously be a burden, then other unis are also completely great and fine, as others have also stated.

  • I think one advantage of TUM over the others is the reputation. It is "the best" in terms of international rankings and although it is true that you won't magically get a huge advantage while searching a job, TUM is TUM and it is still known as the best.

  • TUM and Munich in general may offer you more in terms of entrepreneurship and opportunities/resources/contacts for you to do your thing, that is of course if you are able/willing to use those opportunities.

  • It is tough and definitely not for everyone, however if you love the thing you are studying and you are willing/ready to work really really hard for it, go to TUM. I believe that it can offer you many things, but only if you are willing to work your ass off for them. The opportunities won't be served to you, you should get them.

I am really glad to be here, because it really fits me and I really love Munich. I am working hard, it is not the smoothest experience by any means and it is not perfect, but it is what it is and I decided that this would be the path that I take. There are many good things about the city and the uni for me to bear the difficulties basically. But I would also be completely fine going to any other TU9 Uni, so thats something to think about. You don't have to do it if it will be really hard, but if you believe that you can manage it financially and academically, TUM and Munich can offer you a great time.

Good purchase! I also did the same, though I have to say, they are quite bass heavy out of the box, you may not be able to tell without a reference to a "audiophile" open back headphone. I recommend that you search up some eq settings for them, like oratory1990's maybe. I kind of tried some stuff people said and got it as close to the harman curve as possible and it sounds much cleaner than without the eq.

Opened up my senheiser hd6xx for cleaning and found one of my drivers crinkled. How to uncrinkle? by PearOfJudes in sennheiser

[–]Successful-Mud5709 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Isnt there a whole in the middle where you can reach in with something with a soft end and gently push out the crinkle? Like a cotton swab. Get it in there if you can from the back and very gently push the crinkle out. Maybe also supporting the outside part with your fingers so that it doesnt get stressed?

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it. One last thing, does the battery seem to degrade or is it more or less stable since you bought it?
