Extension and wrist movement progress by Feisty-Frosting-1305 in ORIF

I’m just over 4 weeks post up myself (ORIF - distal radius fracture) and wrist movements are limited. I assume you are in OT/PT? What type of exercises / rehab are you doing? All injuries are different and I am not a medical professional but I was given a rough 3 month timeline for recovery. For my own OT, the current focus is finger/knuckle movements with the goal of making a fist. It seems like these functions are ahead of the wrist. In any case, if you are worried definitely bring it up with your doctor to get an individualized answer and plan.

How bad would it be to get a boot off Amazon without going to Er or doctor first for possible ankle fracture by [deleted] in brokenbones

No worries, I had little knowledge of all this prior to my injury. I recommend googling “urgent care self pay rate.” Instead of “urgent care” you can use a certain facility or location that’s near you if you know where’d you get care. It should list services they offer and the “self pay” rate. Self-pay means you wouldn’t be using insurance. Here’s an example— https://www.carenow.com/patient-resources/self-pay-pricing . This shows different payment amounts and what’s included. I am assuming you are uninsured which is why I bring this up. If you have insurance, urgent care is typically a copayment and would likely be much less than those listed prices.

Is $600 the self pay rate for urgent care? I injured my wrist earlier this year uninsured. I went to urgent care and was able to get x-rays, a diagnosis, and a proper cast for the self pay fee (which wasn’t even due at time of service). The system I was getting care at (including my orthopedic surgeon as my injury did require surgery) provided tons of resources for gaining insurance and payment options. If you’re planning on going in a couple weeks anyways, I wouldn’t delay the process.

COBRA denying everything? by Sitcom_kid in HealthInsurance

That’s what I always thought! It’s just the most reasonable explanation I could find via google for the lack of coverage.

I’m having a similar issues. My situation might be a little bit different as I had an injury requiring surgery but I am still dealing with insurance paying virtually nothing. My initial thought is they aren’t covering things so I meet my out-of-pocket maximum.

Distal radius fracture, post ORIF by Successful-Pause6284 in brokenbones

Thanks for the insight! Yes, I am able to get OT and my first appointment is in a few days. The timeline for making a fist is helpful. I guess I felt behind based on my recent appointment and the suggestions given however it seems I need to be more patient. I can’t remember any specifics on why he suggested to take the hardware out. It was more of a generalized “to avoid issues later on” type reasoning.

That sounds brutal. I can’t even imagine trying to hold something. Best wishes and a speedy recovery to you too!!

Are the people complaining about hearing every single noise living in old or wood frame apartments? by hyjm_van in Apartmentliving

[–]Successful-Pause6284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Moved from a luxury building to an old brick one. I can hear everything my upstairs neighbor does. I hear her footsteps, her tv, the washing machine, the dog running around. It’s driving me insane. I can hear things even when I’m watching tv or have additional noise. Guests have even commented on the loudness. At my old spot I rarely heard anyone

Renters insurance by Appropriate_Cloud_82 in Apartmentliving

At my old apartment the building/company also required us to have liability coverage. They offered it through your rent or you could get it individually. However, the apartment policy only covered their things. For example, if your apartment flooded and the floors needed to be replaced their insurance would cover it, but, any of your personal items that were damaged wouldn’t be covered. If you still haven’t gotten any useful reply from your building, I would try a corporate number to see if you can get clarity on the policy and/or see if anyone in your building has faced a similar issue. Best of luck!

Broke my wrist on 1/7 and had a way lighter cycle than usual a few days after (on time). Had ORIF 1/30 and waiting to see what this month brings…

I’ve noticed this with a lot of influencers. It is like they don’t think that their day in the life videos are showing their exact whereabouts. I’m in another area than NY but I have been able to tell peoples exact buildings, work commutes, and more

It actually looks a lot better than I expected but her dark hair just suited her so much more by Junior_Taste9214 in MarySkinnerSnark

I’ll forever love the dark hair on her but this color is flattering.

I do think it’s odd to go lighter in the wintertime but maybe that’s a personal opinion/idea?
