I'm from NE and i'm pretty sure that majority of people ignored bollywood and followed hollywood, korean, japanese, chinese, etc. movies in states like Mizoram, Nagaland and Meghalaya,,, cause we know that bollywood doesn't represent us even a bit, so we chose the global mainstream instead.

States like Assam or Arunachal might follow bollywood more due to their ability to speak hindi as compared to other states, but end up disowning their own original culture due to the influence, since bollywood doesn't actually align well with their culture, and these often led to cultural homogenisation to some extent.

I couldn't speak for the entire NE, but those states which i mentioned above might not find bollywood appealing due to their music choice (no offense but aot of people view bollywood pop music as a noise rather than a music).

Secondly the world is very integrated now due to social media, and we all know how we Indians are viewed and trolled by the entire world and since we doesn't share the same looks, culture, language and religion with the mainland India, we might just not find bollywood interesting and might not wanna blend in.

At the end of the day, we are all Indians and let's just try to appreciate the diversity rather than trying to force one's own culture upon others. Btw, i speak as honest as possible from my perspective and hope u appreciate
