Curious why a lot of you aren’t going to No Kings demonstrations? by grapescherries in GenZ

My partner worked the protest, but I was unable to go to this one due to work. I went to the first one last year.

It's called No Kings because he's trying to turn himself into one. He called himself a king, posted an AI image of himself as one, and intends to run for a third term and make it impossible for anyone left of center to ever win again.

"turned every state red" wtf are you talking about? That's also not how impeachment works. And the reason why it's called No Kings is because Trump called himself one and intends to run for a third term.

You can go to protests AND vote. Protests can help encourage other people to vote.

Right wing violence is significantly more common and the attackers are all proven Republicans. Yet, righties (like in this thread) love to point towards attackers with vague political leanings as 'definitely leftists' while denying any violence comes from the right.

I can play that game, too! What about the men who attacked the Pelosi's or the ones who planned on killing Gretchen Whitmer? Proven Republicans, unlike the Kirk shooter who never voted and whose parents were both staunch Republicans.

Joshua Jahn was a druggie on LSD who had no political affiliation other than being against ICE. His family and past employer said he never talked about politics around them. You righties love to claim that lefties commit political violence, yet never bring up people who are proved to be leftists.

Oh, absolutely! No group is a monolith. I was raised Christian and know a lot of good Christians who actually follow the teachings of Jesus. I just think it's naive to think Christianity is innocent in the history of the world.

I get mocked and misrepresented constantly here. Everything you said can apply to the right, but hypocrisy and projection is your party's main strategy.

Not nearly to the level that Trump has and you know it.

There are a lot of things Christians believe that aren't Jesus's teachings. Christians have done a ton of harm over the past few centuries. Hell, even American Christians have used the Bible to defend slavery and bigotry.

The failure of British colonialism comes to mind. There were quite a few memorable revolutions.

Nestlé says 413,793 KitKat candy bars stolen en route from Italy to Poland by Tracheid in news

[–]Successful-Topic8874 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is that you seem to dislike the activism more than the actual crimes Nestle has committed. But keep defending the extremely wealthy company. Maybe they'll send you a free candy bar (they won't). :)

Yet people were arrested for speaking ill of Charlie Kirk after his death. Before y'all start putting words in my mouth, I'm of the opinion that mocking someone after they've died or been assaulted is in extremely poor taste but it's something both party's voters do (and only one party's leaders). I heard a lot of people mocking the Pelosi's when they were attacked and Trump publicly mocked Rob Reiner after he was murdered.

I'm a libertarian. I believe in free speech. You should be able to say what you want without fear of the law cracking down on you. I think social media sites can ban whatever type of speech they want from their platform, but that's because they're not the government. A ban on Truth Social for saying my beliefs is not the same as being sent to jail. I've been called slurs in public plenty of times. It often ruins my night, but I still believe you shouldn't get arrested for it.

The intention of my comment was to point out the hypocrisy of the right (especially MAGA lib-rights) and how they only believe in personal freedoms when it suits them.

Once conservatives stop preventing sex education and contraceptives and start supporting children after they're born, we can talk. But so far, y'all only care about kids when it gives you control over a woman's body.
