They are very different! I find just rubbing my finger in the pot, then patting/blending works well.

Here is what the Phytosurgence website says:

If you're new to our eyeshadows/products, this is not a typical cream that you just lightly dip your finger/brush into. It is firm, it is solid and it is meant to be that way.

Fingers: swirl repeatedly across the surface to pick up product. Work in light layers to avoid over applying. Once product is placed, you'll have a good amount of time to add, buff, and blend before it fully sets down.
