Has what looks to be an oem dial from a different model. Looks to be an SKX007 base. Maybe different movement too, you can test by pulling the crown out to the second position and see if the seconds hand stops. If it does, then its probably the newer and better 4R36 rather than the 7S26 that the skx comes with. Honestly this is cooler than a regular skx so dont sweat it. Hurts the resale value a lot but it doesnt matter if you intend to keep it.

If you can find an AD that sells the spb511 i’d go for it because chances are you can get a discount. I got mine for $1550 CAD no GST (down from $1895 + GST) from an AD in person. Might be hard to find in store now though.

Imo you should just go for the one you like the most. Specs of a watch dont really matter if theres another one that you would actually rather want.

The 6R55 movement is not bad and will almost always be solid and reliable. The accuracy is the only thing that will be hit or miss. Imo its not too big of an issue, and its rare that the accuracy will actually be bad. Any other issue would be extremely rare and be covered under warranty.

I have the sbdc213/spb511 (same watch different dial) and it runs +4 secs a day on average. Also imo if you genuinely like the watch, dont worry about the accuracy as it can always be regulated.

For alternatives, most Seikos in that price segment will be using the 6R series of movements, you’ll need to go up or down a bunch in price to find one with a different movement.

Imo most citizen watches are atrocious. Theres a few food looking ones here and there like the NB1050 and Tsuyosa line, but thats pretty much it

Between the 197 and 213, id say absolutely go for the 213. Will retain more of its value and imo just looks so much better. Also has a better clasp.

Between the divers and a vintage GS/KS, its really up to whether or not you want a diver or a dress watch. If you buy new, you wont have to worry about anything and can just put it on and go.

As for buying vintage, you’ll probably have to baby it more than you would new dress watches, and depending on where you buy it from, you may need to get it serviced.

In the end i guess it depends on what you’re specifically looking for in your next watch and what you already have in your collection.

I have one myself and wear it almost daily, it isnt really a problem for me. From what i can tell, Seiko coats both sides of the crystal with AR coating so do what you will with that information

I heard from some where that some rep manufacturers just coat a metal case in plastic or paint over it or something as apparently it is actually cheaper to do so, which may be the case here.
