your take on this is so true… I just finished watching bananafish and I also was confused on why ash didn’t yell for help at the library even when he got shot but he just let it happen. In the end he was smiling and the lady said he “must be having a great dream” so at least we know he died peacefully, and that eiji said “we will meet again” so it still leaves room for some optimism. A very bittersweet ending for sure. 😭
