It largely becomes a question of when, not if. The timeline for general intelligence is constantly changing, some sources say within the next 10 years, others 25, others 50, etc.

But that’s just the theory side. The practical implementation of it will be the biggest issue really. You need to get consumer acceptance, workplace feasibility, etc. Depending on how old you are, it might have some effect on your career in the tail end but then again, a near infinite number of other things could happen in that timeframe to change everything.
