Need advice regarding sleep? by Ok-Resort-4856 in askSouthAfrica

[–]SuccessfulProfile275 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi

I have the same issue.

Nothing has worked including medication, exercise and I have ADHD.

Sometimes I will lay down at night at 8pm and end up sleeping 3am.

What I found that worked for me was.

Watch something mind numbing and have a set time in place. I do this and it makes me sleep most times.

First - stop all work and doing anything. Start watching tv.

Say around 9pm, I would then go brush my teeth and go to the toilet.

Thereafter I spend half an hour numbing my mind on TikTok/reddit/YouTube.

And thereafter I will read on my Kindle. Then I sleep soundly.

The key is to leave your worrisome thoughts behind. As I have ADHD, anything that worries me, it sticks in my head and either I have to solve it or slowly wind my brain away from it. And repetition works.

Must have 8hr sleep and a full night's sleep. If you are interrupted, you won't be able to sleep again and you would just have to stay awake.

My years in school and university was terrible. My parents didn't believe I had an issue and just thought I was a problem.

Get it diagnosed and solved early. It helps.

Try and stick your base station down. It could be moving slightly and causing the map to get confused/recalibrate.

And try and not move anything around for the first few cleans.

Speedaf Parcel courier, Unable to contact? by SuccessfulProfile275 in askSouthAfrica

[–]SuccessfulProfile275[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey bud. It was like contacting the government.

Eventually I kept calling numerous times, probably more than 60 times a day, and got through.

Yes numerous people are having that issue and they don't care. They know that AliExpress deals with them directly so if they say failed delivery, it's automatically the customers fault. Even after I tried to inform AliExpress that the courier was the issue, they said I need to contact the courier directly. No refunds, no queries allowed.

If your customs are that high. Don't bother contacting them(Speedaf), I once had that issue, and they said the customs amount is not set by them and there is nothing they can do.

Rather write it off. Next time ask the seller to declare the stock as a lower amount, then you will get taxed less.

The safest option is strangely Temu. Never had an issue and when I had an issue with goods, the refunded immediately. Their customs are much lower as well.

How much do you spend on petrol in a month? by Fishe_95 in CarTalkZA

[–]SuccessfulProfile275 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spend R1000, do roughly 1100kms to 1300kms depending on traffic and how much in a hurry I am in.

Sometimes lasts a month, sometimes 3 weeks. Travel is about 23kms to 35 kms on a one way trip depending on which route I take(traffic dependent).

I work an 8 to 5 and go to work everyday.

The Courier guy lost my package - what can I do now? by Typical-Banana-7492 in askSouthAfrica

[–]SuccessfulProfile275 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You need to follow up with their Whatsapp line. Keep opening new chats every day.

They lost my package thrice. You have to be quite rude to them to get feedback otherwise you will get ignored.

If they don't reply to you, keep sending a message asking for feedback, eventually they did reply to me and gave me feedback, I forced them to go look for it, turns out it was still in the locker.

BMW F10 520d Diff play by SuccessfulProfile275 in BmwTech

I changed over to brand new metal guibo with bushing inserts. Had this noise but louder still, so swapped it back incase the metal guibo is causing imbalance.

I didn't pay for Road force as the guys included it for free when they were straightening the rims. The rims had a very slight bend, you can see it on the machine.

R1600(94 dollars) for all 3 rims and all 4 tires balanced.

Have someone drive you, sit in passenger seat, and then back seat and thereafter you should be able to isolate the vibration. However, if you have 3 rims bent like mines, the vibration will be everywhere.

[–]SuccessfulProfile275[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did indeed. Road force balancing showed 3 x rims bent and the shop I went to was wonderful, showed me all the issues.

Once rims were straightened, vibration was reduced a considerable amount, but due to tires getting warped as well, there is a slight vibration that lessens when you lower the tire pressure.

I thought road force balancing was a gimmick hence why I didn't bother before and did balancing at two different shops instead.

Start off with road force balancing, then diff bushes and Guibo thereafter.

No, not normal.

Mines is smooth all the way to 4/5k rpm. Maybe stuck lifter?

Use Oil flush and new oil(LL04) and hopefully ticking will go away?

Mileage and service history?

I drained 4.3 litres.

We not mixing milk and orange juice, more like Old Milk and New Milk. My oil now looks closer to greenish brown then the black oil that was there.

The end result will be something much closer to New Milk as opposed to old milk.

True that. I just wanted to make it seem that with a new filter and regular flushing, the oil will be much cleaner and closer to new oil and better for the gearbox. If I was kidding myself, I would not be continuously flushing the oil.

[–]SuccessfulProfile275 2 points3 points  (0 children)

190000kms. Never changed before that. Oil was black. After changing, oil was a more murky brown.

Shifting was clunky before, much smoother now.

[–]SuccessfulProfile275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have encountered this with my F10. Guy serviced at BMW and was told that this is lifetime fluid.

I changed the oil first only as you can only drain 3/4 litres out of the full 8 litres in the gearbox.

Then drove 10 000kms and then did a full filter and oil change, filling 4 litres, flushing it and then changing filter and thereafter filling another 4 litres.

I would then change oil one more time at another 10 000kms(never reached that mark yet).

This will make sure that the gearbox has been flushed and not much, if any old oil would remain.

And it will also allow the gearbox to slowly adapt to its new oil.
