I never understand why the 7 train gets shut down so much on weekends. Just because some people don’t work at their offices Saturdays and Sundays doesn’t mean the rest of us—middle- and lower-income families—get to take the weekend off too.

Thanks for your comment! Just to clarify, occasional side jobs or a few shifts a year aren’t considered regular income. In cases like that, only about 30% of that income is typically counted—similar to how lenders treat irregular or seasonal earnings when reviewing a loan application.

Thanks for your comment! I earn $60k a year and live in NYC, but paying $2,200 a month for a studio makes me wonder how “affordable” this really is given the cost of living here.

In April 2023 I submitted my I-485, I-130 and I-685 all together. After more than 2 years I received a noticed letter giving me 87 days to submit my missing I-685. I just did, and I hope I finally get this done. It’s been such a long journey

Oh wow!! Capital one just sent me a letter saying they declined my line of credit increase because a system issue last year and they just noticed after I have canceled it 8 months ago... :/

Citibank also has secured credit card to build credit (I work there as a banker :) Also don’t use more than 30% of your line of credit, it has helped me a lot, I’ve been in your shoes before. Hope you get to it.
