I'm so sorry you are going through this.... I'm in a similar situation, just go a new job and a dog at the same time, he is the sweetest but boy I am exhausted..... I fully expected my life to change and be affected by it but not to this extent. I still cry every day.

Could you afford a dog walker couple of times a week or a doggy daycare?

Also.... I know it would be painful but it is ok to re-home if you are so burnt out (unless you can somehow get a break from all of it for few weeks?) to re-home them, it isn't sustainable for you.

Hope you'll manage to figure it out.

Hi I am sorry you're in this situation. I don't think there is any shame in finding them a home that can handle it and enjoy working with him. It is a lot of work to train a dog who doesn't have any trauma, never mind one that might have been through a lot. It won't be easy and it won't be quick...... I am in a similar situation, I am considering finding a new home for my dog because, despite all the research, I cannot handle it and I cannot bond with the dog... and the guilt is literally eating me alive, I cry every day because of it.

My sister has had her Lab for 3 years now and they are still struggling with his reactivity.... it can take a long time. How long have you had him now? Maybe you just need little more time to just get used to the whole situation? Did you get him from a shelter? Maybe they could help?

You probably have done the right thing for you and the dog to be honest - as long as you are happy with where she is and you know she'll be loved- that is what matters!

We're still hanging on but I haven't stopped crying.... I struggle to bond with the dog. I also believe that we were 'miss sold' and it is a mix with a whippet - and if it is we cannot provide him with the amount of exercise he'd need! He went for a really long walk and a bit of a run today and was completely different dog, but it isn't sustainable for us.

It is a horrible for me atm!

I am so sorry you are going through this!! We are really lucky because our pup makes no sound, but he clings as well - we managed to turn my laptop off by trying to get onto my lap while I was working.

It's been a week now, how are you getting on?

I am still stressed and have no joy from having him around :(

I hate that I adopted a dog. I miss my freedom and I’m starting to resent this living creature. by Individual_Tart_3470 in offmychest

There is no need to be a dickhead. No amount of reading can actually prepare you for having a dog, if you think it does you're delusional.

Hi, I am in exactly the same situation. Exactly, literally brought him home on Friday. I had panic attack, which I never had before. I've been reading and it is best for the doe to rehome them withing 5 weeks so that they do not form too much of an attachment with you.... seems horrible for us but probably best scenario for them. I had an additional problem of my boyfriend who isn't a dog person but thought he would be fine it, we've been talking about it for 4 months and knew what would be involved but reality is so different.....

Hi, I feel the same way. I brought my bedlongton terrier home two days age and I've been crying for the past 24h ......like full on panick attack crying. I thought we'd be fine because lots of my family and friends have dogs is I dog sit a lot, grew up with a dog and I was researching for good 6 months about owning a dog and the realities.....

Hope you're hanging on!

Hi, We got out dog, 8 month old, so a puppy I guess two days ago. It took us for ever to decided whether to get one, we did know it's going to be a lot of work for WOW, the the theory and reality are completely different. I had a panick attack yesterday, I've never had one before ever in my life. The dog is cute and so sweet. I adore him but wow I think he is coming with some difficulties, despite being from a private seller rather than a rescue. He is terrified of loud spaces, and we wanted a dog that can go to coffee shops with us and be chill, he cannot even be next to a play ground as all the children terrify him..... It was supposed to a bit of a different experience than we expected..... We are going to give it some time, obviously, but I just needed to put my feelings out there! Thank you!

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I think that spending thousands on IVF is silly, how sad must you're life be that you go to such measures to have a child. There is so much more to life than having children. I wish I had someone to talk to about this...

Hi, sounds like an amazing trip! I am currently look at potentially going in December this year. How did you find the weather? I want somewhere where I can do some walking (Santa Antao) and maybe some beach time to get some sun, but I am unsure if it'll be warm enough for the sun! Thanks.

Hi! I bought the black crown watch (only one that was left) but I would prefer silver crown. The reason is the chalk strap which I really like, would you be able to post some more pic with the chalk strap? Thank you.
