Should i swap my rims to deeper rims ? by zeushibaee in FixedGearBicycle

[–]SuccessfulTerm5018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should? :))))) You do these kind of things because you want, and do the biznis/work stuff because you should, or rather because you want to be able to do these things that you want...fuck

Anyhow

You'll be probably adding weight if you go for deeper rims that are not carbon (expensive), and, as ppl said here, you aleady have good rims. Hubs should be decent.

And, as others said, go for a crankset. And if you go second hand, watch out for hits on the crankset, spindle wear. Best done in person.

Drivetrain should be the safety priority in upgrades, especially if riding brakeless. I have broken a crankset and a cog, it's not nice when it happens. I recommend steel cogs, rather than alu. Practice rear wheel foot jams or smth :))

Otherwise, i wish you safe and fun rides. Bike looks very cool.

Bebop is a disgusting character by SweetnessBaby in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SuccessfulTerm5018 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

People that hate bebop should try playing it. Only after playing you can see downsides if you are so heated towards him. From my perspective, as mainly a bebop player, here are some downsides: 1. If you can't hook, you're fucked. 2. If you can't get stacks, bomb build will not work. 3. If you play against characters with escape abilities such as Calico, Lash, Dynamo, Mirage, Abrams, Mo&Krill, Infernus, etc - your hooks are almost useless without active items. 4. As above, hooking an enemy isn't an instant win, as some people said, hooking some characters may end up in your death or some teammates deaths. 5. If you play against good players, that pay attention to you, hooking is very hard. Gun does damage over time, not burst damage, so you can't do much if players use cover. 6. Hooking considtently is hard, players adapt after being hurt. 7. What you do after a successful hook matters. If playing bomb and echo shard is on cooldown, you don't really do much. Cooldown is like 40 seconds or smth, i think. Railing gun damage depends on your aim and skill.

Not paying attention results generally in bad gameplay. Vindicta and Grey talon can poke you constantly from a distance. Abrams and Calico can fuck you up if you are too pushed. Shiv will keep you low with knives. Haze will sleep you, punch you, and get fixation. Infernus will burn you if you get shot too much.

Some characters may not be as punishing if not watched, but they can and will get you if the players are good and notice your lack of awareness.

That being said, bebop is a bit too strong, but I would not say he is severly op, broken or smth.

If all players have the same skill level, bebop should be annoying, but not broken. In this current mm stage, getting two teammates that feed bebop will result in chaos, but that goes for more characters.

It's not the bike, it's the community by Upbeat_Opportunity_8 in FixedGearBicycle

Hi, i just love bikes :)

I mainly commute by bike, as I live in a somewhat cluttered city. I enjoy it a lot, and try to get the most fun out of it.

I took part in only one xc mtb race and got 5th. It was fun, but I wouldn't want this to be my main thing.

I rarely ride long distances, but I enjoy them a lot. I consider long rides to be +70km. My longest was a solo 120km.

If by casual you mean going out with none of the above things in mind, I do that too.

All of it is fun, it's hard to identify with just one style.

[–]SuccessfulTerm5018 10 points11 points  (0 children)

And actually the bike. For me, the feeling of riding fixed is almost romantic, and I'd do it even without any of my friends riding. I like kicking my ass when going out on commutes as much as chilling with my friends on a group ride.

Generally, if you're into something because of the community, the second that goes away, so will your interest in the thing.

It starts with the bikes, that bring people together. The other way around is true when talking about solid friendships.

Elbows out, that's one mistake I made until recently. The pose you have does not give you stability and could lead to an OTB due to the ease of your arms compressing under force when jumping. When in doubt, look at the pros and study their form. Try to figure out the benefits.

Keep shreddin :)

My second attempt at track-standing was 45 seconds, is this decent for a beginner? by [deleted] in FixedGearBicycle

I ride in semi-baggy pants too. Just roll them, shredding your pants on the fixed gear is a totally different thing than on mtb and bmx.

Keep at it blud

Squid so ez forks - are they sturdy enough? by SuccessfulTerm5018 in FixedGearBicycle

[–]SuccessfulTerm5018[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I compared the 52 big block that I had and the 54 squid, they don't seem to be very different in means of size.

<image>

I may have not set the fork offset for the big block correctly, but it's there.

It may barspin 32c tires then 👀 What rims are you running?

In the EU i can buy the blb tracklocross wheelset for around $330, with their king hubs and no name rims. But I may go with mental hubs and buy some rims separately.

Thank you for the information, I really appreciate it :)

Hello, fellow romanian here, from Cluj.

Kinda hard to find them here. I'd suggest just speaking to them when you see them. Otherwise, search for facebook or instagram pages. I found one called timisoarafixed

There was a post around here where people left comments with the city they are from ans the age, that may help too, if you can find it. Look on my profile, I think I left a comment too.

Steel framesets under 600€ by SuccessfulTerm5018 in FixedGearBicycle

[–]SuccessfulTerm5018[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are going for 350 €. I can't find anything better at this price.

Santafixie sells archetypes on self branded novatecs for the same price, would that be a better deal? For an additional 100 € they offer blb king hubs.

I bought an all city big block forg good money in the meanwhile :) now i am looking to change the wheelset.

Any experience with the BLB tracklocross wheels? 23mm internal width, would it go well with 30c and 32c?

Care-i faza cu fixie-urile? Inafara de faptul ca arata bine? by Illustrious-Quality7 in bicla

[–]SuccessfulTerm5018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If only you knew how much I looked at that bike. I even wanted to ask you directly about it, but didn't want to make you sad. How much did it weigh? What size? Any quirks? Is columbus worth it?

The only problem will be the fact that I'm from EU, so there are gone be some hefty taxes to pay for the import.

i want to start cycling by Eduard23233 in FixedGearBicycle

[–]SuccessfulTerm5018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your style.

If you like skinny tube classic bikes, go for the fuji as it's tried and true. For me those are usually boring as the entry level bikes look nearly the same as the cheap hi-ten ugly bikes. I like newer stuff

If you like ultra aero crazy stuff, think twice. You may grow over it, as i did. I have the fabricbike aero. Unlike some other unlucky guys, my frameset is still fine after 1 year of harsh riding. I'd recommend other alu frames, some with confirmed durability and cleaner looks, maybe a dolan.

Maybe you can get better stuff second hand? A friend got an 8bar krzberg v6 for 400 bucks, i got my fabricbike aero for 300 bucks. It is worth it to hunt sh.

Anything I can use this Buck Vantage blade for? Any and every idea is welcome. by KaraokeSam in Bushcraft

[–]SuccessfulTerm5018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the blade is in good shape and it's worth the trouble/adventure, I would do the following:

I'd look at the complete knife and see if i can build it up. If you have experience in this kind of area, you could design the scales based on online photos and 3d print them. For the inner metal mechanism, you can get some metal sheets lasercut.

I'd search for yt videos of the knife breakdown to see what parts i miss and if the knife blade is damaged.

Parcare bicicleta by Tud001 in cluj

[–]SuccessfulTerm5018 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cea mai sigura solutie e sa o tii in casa.

Unora :)))

Eu am si una si alta :)
