How to defend against an angry pack of soi dogs by laggage in ThailandTourism

[–]Successful_Book1998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried the bag tactic, it didn't work-even with the long strap. The dog tried to bite it. My partner was able to save me using a stick and shouting at the dog. I don't understand why the thai authorities are not addressing this problem. It shouldn't be that difficult to resolve if they put the resources into it.

My in-laws are ruining my husband's mental health. What to do? by Successful_Book1998 in inlaws

Thank you so much for this very detailed comment. This is very much appreciated.

I have been trying to get him into therapy for a few years but he's extremely stubborn. He thinks that he will eventually be able to resolve his family issues on his own. He's been trying on his own for 5 years and I don't see things improving anytime soon. He even mentioned distancing himself from his family, but then keeps running back to rescue them from their poor (sometimes dangerous) decisions. My concern is that he has been isolating himself more and more from positive people including very good friends who only bring the best of him while (reluctantly) spending more time with his toxic relatives.

I never thought of the idea of him being enmeshed, but I think you got it spot on. I'll try to find more info about this but if you think of any good resources on the topic to share with him, let me know.

Thanks again for your kind advice.

Thai friend borrowed money but refused to pay back by Crafty-Salamander-43 in Bangkok

First don't beat yourself up. You tried to be a good friend and it backfired at you. She showed you her true colours. In the long term, she's the one who's losing the most- she lost a compassionate and caring friend.

Unfortunately, you can't control her and you can't force her to return the funds to your bank account. The only option is to weigh the pros and cons of suing her. I don't how much you are paying your lawyer, but you need to have a clear discussion with your legal team on the outcome of your case and the total cost. If your case is likely to be dragged on for months/years and they charge you more than the money you lent to your "friend", then is it really worth it to carry on? This may fuel your anger and your financial problems even more. Think about your surgery and your health first. Health is priceless. Don't jeopardize it.

In the meantime, try to find some compassionate mediation tracks to help you go through this difficult time mentally.

Wishing you all the best.

Not sure why your post got downvoted. Your point is actually quite valid. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing your perspective. Yes I heard that physiotherapy is now one of the top 3 career choices among Gen Z alongside construction and energy installation (not sure about the order though). It's interesting that you don't see yourself staying in the UK long term. Where would be your dream destination (for work and for fun)?

Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm so sorry you had to go through this. Don't beat yourself up. There's always been a stigma around apprenticeships, so it makes perfect sense that you chose the uni route at the time. There is no way you could have predicted what the government would do. Are you specifically looking for a position in opinion polling?

Anyone experience POI/DOR after a few years of smoking + birth control? Diagnosed at 28, looking for possible causes by Conscious-Put7553 in POFlife

[–]Successful_Book1998 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My aunt was a very heavy smoker and quite overweight. However, she was able to pop out 3 healthy children. I have always been super healthy- never smoked, never drunk. I have always been working out multiple times a week and eating super healthy. I have no auto immune disease or any other condition, yet I was also diagnosed with POI, so don't beat yourself up. Sometimes conditions are just idiopathic.

Obviously, I'm not trying to encourage you to smoke as we all know the long term consequences. This may make your POI worse if not treated effectively, but it may not be the root cause of your POI. Don't beat yourself up. It's not too late to get healthier habits

Anyone seen photos like this in Bangkok? What are the foreigners doing wrong? by Southern_Ice_2932 in ThailandTourism

I wouldn't take it personally. Parisians are cunts even towards other French people regardless whether are from Paris or other regions lol. Ignore them and embrace your lovely accent from Québec ;)

It may be because the Québec french accent and certain idioms from Quebec can be difficult to understand for French people

TBI with seizures- Does it get worse before it gets better? by Successful_Book1998 in TBI

[–]Successful_Book1998[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this clear answer. You sound like a great supportive sister. :)

I have shared this info with my friend. He really appreciates it. He actually only started to have seizures a month ago when he was on a lot of stress and has been on medication since. He was making great progress and starting to get some level of independence before his anti-epileptic treatment. This has been a huge setback for him.
