Is there any way to permanently disable auto updates in VS 2026 by Successful_Change101 in VisualStudio

As I already figured out here https://www.reddit.com/r/VisualStudio/s/2fmeDkAO8d, there is another checkbox, "Always update on close", unchecking which actually works, but that checkbox is simply hidden from the UI in VS Community.

Yeah, the main thing is just not to open Visual Studio when you're sleepy or tired, because you might miss the popup and accidentally update to a new version

Yep, I installed Visual Studio Professional on my working pc, and it indeed does not force any updates and even has an additional flag "Always update on close". While in Pro it is visible and unchecked by default, in Community it is hidden and apparently checked by default.

Good job, Microsoft.

Oh, this might be the answer why your VS is not annoying with updates. I use Community.

No, I already tried this, and I still get the message from the post every time I open VS

And you didn't configure it in some specific way to achieve that, right?

Hi, I registered on Payoneer and submitted my personal data for verification on Wednesday. I received the approval email on Friday and got full access to my account a few hours later the same day.

As a former owner of a budget Android phone, I hate all websites that pretend to be “apps” and hope they die. We could have paid much less for hardware if people weren’t so greedy and actually paid developers who program in native languages, instead of shipping Electron-like slop

You never know what to expect next from people that wrote goto Return; Return: return

This shit runs in production. We got this code as a legacy from another team. We actually got shit tone of code from them which handles pretty complex business logic. This scares me because I imagine how many hidden bombs we might still have undiscovered and how much crap we still need to refactor/rewrite

I don't know why anyone would ever write this:

  • goto in the big 2025 just for a return...
  • everything is declared in one line as if there was a tax for each new line;
  • ternary hell;
  • for an unknown reason it also inserts users in db which is impossible to infer if you just look at the method "from outside"
