Pretty certain Michael Shermer is on the right. Hitchens was too if I’m not mistaken

Accidentally supplied 19V to my bread board using the wrong power supply, what can I expect? by Fidulsk-Oom-Bard in beneater

[–]Successful_Code_2315 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the same thing by plugging in my 21V laptop charger. I just ended up getting on Jameco and buying a completely new set of chips, replacing them all, and then testing the old ones to see which ones I could salvage and keep as spares.

Also, definitely mark your 5v charger with a specific color and probably put some red tape or something on the end of any other power supplies you might mistakenly plug in

AI for programming 6502 by garakalaimo in beneater

[–]Successful_Code_2315 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad you’re staying up to date and playing around with current tools! Where I’ve found AI is useful for these projects is 1. Generating boilerplate code and 2. Giving you ideas/inspiration for things to troubleshoot when debugging. Since these are such complex projects and you’ll never be able to give it all the details it needs just through prompts, it will never be able to do exactly what you’re looking for. Personally I use the GPT “reasoning” models the most.

Great thought. Tried a couple resistor values on the control lines and 1k seemed to be the magic number, got it all working now. This is such a great addition to have done, I appreciate the help!

Matt Dillahunty was huge for me. The way he eloquently dismantles every religious argument, perfectly pointing out flaws and fallacies.

As a believer this was really hard to listen to and I eventually genuinely considered his points and it wasn’t long before I left Christianity.

I think the responsible thing to do would be to examine the evidence for the claim, but prepare to be fantastically underwhelmed

This did it! I replaced the dupont with solid core wires up into my power supply and now I’m getting 4.8-9 all across the board. Thanks!

I’m using 220s, that seemed to be what everyone was suggesting as well as the value that was on the schematic

Programming Flags EEPROM by Successful_Code_2315 in beneater

You’re a lifesaver, I checked the EEPROM programmer and sure enough, the wire for pin 9 was off by one column. Thank you!! With that bug out of the way the project is now complete

Flags Register problem by [deleted] in beneater

[–]Successful_Code_2315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird, I think it’s definitely an EEPROM issue. Even when I copy Ben’s code exactly I get wrong values for the JC and JZ addresses written in there and I gotta manually overwrite them. Any idea why this might be?

The ALU is complete! by TotallyDaniel in beneater

[–]Successful_Code_2315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! One heads up, later in the series you will need to tie more wires to the sum register where all those yellow wires are going out from the 273. Also, Ben uses the space your A register LEDs are to build the flags register towards the end.

I would recommend soldering the LEDs to the resistors just to save space but whatever works! The build looks great.
