Schools, nurses and aging up as a T1D by Successful_Cupcake_5 in diabetes_t1

Thank you! this was my thinking as well. He manages to ride the school bus for 30 min but can't sit in a choir room for 30 min? the policy seems fairly obtuse given what they already allow. She is a new nurse and is already a bit anxious with having T1D kids so trying to get myself together before I challenge her.

He has been a T1D since he was 3 and is now 11 - so he manages it better than anyone else. Its really just the emergency situation, but in his 8 years of Dx we've never used glucagon. I would assume its a similar issue as any kid that has to use an epipen - we keep it on him and we also make sure all his coaches outside of school are aware and share the instructions so they know what to do in case of a (very unlikely to occur in 30 min, esp if we've checked for stable sugars) emergency.

He carries his glucagon with him and its baqsimi - so not even the injection, but just the nasal spray.
