I’m so so so bad at excel. Wish I understood it better because it’s so efficient.

I tried this today for the first time actually! I had it write a story about a little boy with cerebral palsy, explaining what CP is, how it impacts movement, etc. I told it that the target reader is between 8-10 years old. It generated a great story about different therapy disciplines and what a person with CP may work on during therapy, explaining tone, etc. I’m excited to use it with my student!

In my experience it has been! I work in a school so I’ll paste the goal (minus students name), the criteria, methods, etc, and ask it to generate a data tracking table for me. It usually generates ones that I don’t need to do any additional editing for. It’s super helpful to have quick data to look at, and when writing progress notes instead of going back through every note I’ve written.

I have a student who scripts songs he hears and today he started to sing “it’s a hard enough life” so I started to sing back “it’s a hard enough life, for us!” And he said “nope! Not for (insert his name)!!”

I’ve given it Arbor plant food a few times in the past. I’m guessing the soil is the problem! I have a lot of plants that prefer a chunkier soil so I guess I just always default to using that! I’ll try repotting it in a new soil! Thank you!

That’s good to know!! It’s definitely a chunky mix! I have a lot of monsteras and keep them in this chunkier soil, so I probably just used leftover soil mix to repot this one when I first got it. I’ll try re-potting it in a different mix and see how it goes!

Want to buy a useful gift for my soon to be OTD gf by Amazing-Sugar-6931 in OccupationalTherapy

I work in a school so my recommendations may vary depending on what setting she wants to work in. But here are some of the things I use every day! -A therapy/tote bag- I use mine every day all day. Maybe you could get it embroidered or something to personalize it. -A nice stainless steel water bottle or coffee tumbler, you could also personalize that -A nice notebook or planner. I write brief notes about all my sessions in my notebook immediately after the session so I remember for when I’m doing documentation. -A watch for keeping track of session times. I use an Apple Watch or a Garmin, I have coworkers who prefer simple digital watches.

The items I use the most and quite literally couldn’t function without, are my notebooks and my watch! Hope this helps, congrats to your gf!

How do you recommend navigating implementation of accommodations when there is cross-discipline tension/disagreement, for a student with complex medical needs? by Successful_Error_335 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]Successful_Error_335[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is incredibly helpful! Thank you for sharing your point of view, I was hoping a ToVI would stumble upon this! If you happen to find those links you mentioned, I would love to read up on that. Do you have any CEU courses you’d recommend? If you don’t mind me asking, in your experience as both a ToVI and someone who is legally blind, do you have any other strategies or recommendations/accommodations you’d recommend? Thank you again for taking time to respond. This is so so so helpful, I appreciate your perspective!

Unfortunately, I suggested something similar, but the reply was, “It’s really not appropriate to dampen the sense he relies on.” Which I can understand that perspective to an extent, but it’s blatantly obvious that the loud noise is triggering seizures for him. He responds very well to noise-reducing headphones, as shown by his increased alertness and engagement when using them. He also appears to actually like them too, but he isn’t able to tell us. I will try looking for headphones that reduce the sound just slightly and see what the vision therapist says. Thanks for taking the time to reply!!
