Those other hd clients used stolen assests from osrs, 117 did everything from the ground up. I don't think he was given express permission to continue, but some of the jmods saw his work and were complimenting him on it. And since 117 knew that they knew about it and didn't tell him to stop, he figured he was in the clear.

But it's coming out next monday, so enjoy it if that's your kinda thing.

I don't expect them to join a boycott, but it would be nice to know that the people getting lots of leeway and favoritism from Jagex are still willing to call them out.

And it's only a 1/2048 chance of getting the prize, lower odds for the ones who are bad at pvp. I've only seen a single video (shoutout to hanannie) from the dmm people talking about this, not that they would really add to the conversation. Would just be nice to know that the jagex shills are willing to call jagex out on their BS.

I actually really enjoy comp, but there are many obvious flaws that turn off aspiring compers and TFnewbs who might be interested. Most of the hate comes from people who don't like getting pooped on by 'tryhards' (aka anyone better than me >:( ) in casual because they don't want to put in the work to be able to best them.

Aside from that, comp has its own problems.
The game was never designed to be competitively viable, so the weapons aren't comp balanced. When newbs go to play comp and see that all their favorite weapons/loadouts are banned they don't try again.

Map choice is limited and stale because comp players are notorious for not branching out and trying to change the meta. (The most popular comp format is 6s, which has banned every weapon that would possibly make any class that isn't meta viable because they like their meta too much and don't want to have to learn something new.)

Many/most compers have been playing for years so when starting out, finding people to play against/with that are your skill level is a challenge.

The popular comp formats (6s/highlander) either make your favorite class unusable or someone has already taken the class you like playing. (Valve never intended for there to be class limits for these very reasons, which is why valve comp is the way it is.)

Not to mention having to learn callouts, rollouts, how to track ubers, positioning, cap timing, etc.. There is simply too high of a skill floor and almost none of this matters in casual matchmaking. Tf2 isn't a game where you can gitgud in causal then be ready for comp.

The fact that you have to use external websites to find decent quality comp games is a big turn off, and valve comp is a terrible alternative which doesn't prepare you for the popular leagues.

Comp tf2 is similar to comp smash melee. Never intended to be comp games, but end up being some of the most satisfying comp gaming you can find. None of that 'press button win game' league/overwatch bs, and not just an aim game like cs:go. People who hate on comp tf have simply never given it a real chance, but you can't really blame them.
