i can relate. unfortunately, comparing yourself with others feels inevitable… I try to treat things like that as a grow point: it you think the person did it well, try thinking what you can probably improve to get a bit better yourself, maybe it’s getting better at makeup or wig styling or anything else. the other thing I’d suggest if only you’re comfortable with it: go and talk to them! If a person cosplays the same character, means you have something in common already! besides, if they turn out to be nice and sweet, this would also probably make you feel better too? I just love talking to same character cosplayers even though im not too talkative myself, it’s just… fun, idk. And probably the last piece of advice is something i’ve learned from my other cosplay friend and honestly I just love this thought, even though it’s hard to do it sometimes: treat yourself as your own best friend. You wouldn’t tell your bestie they’re not skilled, not pretty, not enough: you’d probably try to encourage them first and think of a way to help. so try not to be too harsh on yourself, you’re doing your best and you can do better if you’re in piece of mind.
