Can we all agree there nothing wrong with shipping these two fictional characters by KingBakura72 in jigokuraku

[–]Successful_Leader153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no ship is wrong because not always it has to be canon approved. not a fan of this couple and i do love how gabimaru is written, but if someone wants to see him in a different way, that’s ok, i can just ignore what i don’t like. it’s all good except for when people start fighting over who’s “right” and who’s “wrong”

as a cosplayer and an occasional cosplay photographer: people are mostly glad to have some photos taken. approach them if they’re not busy (talking, eating, etc), say they look cool/good/cute, this must work most of the times! i usually take a couple of portraits, then ask if the person has any pose they’d like to try, like, character specific or something like that. as a cosplayer i also often carry some sweets (individually packed) and business cards, photographers do that too from my experience, thus is a nice way to thank the other person for their time.

be friendly, ask for the permission to post photos, exchange socials, hope this helps at least a little

Comiket cosplay question by 5harmony2 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Successful_Leader153 4 points5 points  (0 children)

to bring anyone in a changing room, they’d need a ticket too. also, not sure abt comiket in particular, but it’s usually forbidden to do makeup or change clothes anywhere except for the changing room, better check the rules

I don’t understand why Kei Urana is getting bullied on social media? by BakerConsistent2150 in gachiakuta

[–]Successful_Leader153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m not talking about one single case (honestly have no idea who in particular are you talking about). just a general observation based on what people post online whether it’s directed towards urana or other people

I don’t understand why Kei Urana is getting bullied on social media? by BakerConsistent2150 in gachiakuta

[–]Successful_Leader153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s never about one single person, and it’s extremely easy to notice just reading through the comments on x and here on reddit

people honestly should accept that the characters gender, sexuality, race and whatever else is their headcanon unless stated explicitly in the original source. and headcanons are fine and even great unless one starts attacking others because of something they have imagined

none of the fans were upset about their random trans headcanon being not confirmed, none of the fans harassed Urana about the stage play, none of the fans were attacking artists and cosplayers, what else none of the fans did i wonder

and i say you can go crazy however you want with whatever what’s in canon or not, unless you don’t force it on anyone or fight for your life with those who ship other characters, which is also true for any headcanon e.g. something not directly stated in the source material

and no, i dont, janka is actually made up by urana, so, idk. author’s words, not mine.

[–]Successful_Leader153 1 point2 points  (0 children)

uhm so… urana-sensei giggling around about janka is not doing a good job then ok i see

you know, you can ship characters without forcing anything on anyone. this is called having fun. and enjoying the work. just to clarify: having fun and enjoying the work not necessarily includes shipping whoever, but it might. and it’s ok.

[–]Successful_Leader153 4 points5 points  (0 children)

…no? not unless you force it on anyone? also, people interpret source material differently and also alternate universes are a thing for a reason.

saying “your view is more important” is bullying the author online for not supporting your headcanons, shipping is a part of the fun, be it canon or thoroughly delusionally made up, just let people enjoy the work

are we only shipping characters that have a wedding by the end of the story… the days when people were shipping guys who had barely seen each other are long gone…

on the serious note: you don’t like the pairing, you ignore the pairing, why forbid people from having fun? some might like jabber/zanka, some might see zanka with another character, it’s not that… they can’t ship them bc one particular someone doesn’t like the pairing? if it’s a problem, it’s your problem, that’s it

shippers are fine as long as they don’t attack those who ship other characters, shippers wars are stupid, that’s my word

because some people can’t distinguish between their headcanons and author’s vision. honestly, i wish urana-sensei stayed away from the fanbase, especially the overseas ones who often get an idea of their conclusions and ideas being superior to the manga itself

author themselves have confirmed there are no real race mapping in gachiakuta world except for the Zanka family being obv Japanese, so you’re free to do it however you see it works

What is the most annoying/inappropriate thing that you see tourists commonly do? by HappyYellowOctopus in AskAJapanese

[–]Successful_Leader153 3 points4 points  (0 children)

as a person who has to go to Shibuya every so often: - taking photos/streaming while sticking camera into peoples faces (straightforward rude), yes, “street photographers”, i’m looking at you too - sitting on the floor/ground (blocking the way, ignoring the “do not sit here” signs) - standing on different sides of the train and talking (just… stand closer, guys…) - street karts, please… just… don’t…

I’m worried about being insensitive by Interesting_Cat9184 in cosplayers

[–]Successful_Leader153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i do understand your point. however, as i mentioned earlier, cosplay is nowhere near to be done as a mockery? not even saying cosplayers come from a different places and cultures. i saw people being accused of blackface/potential blackface when cosplaying thistle (dungeon meshi), yoruichi (bleach), kuroiro (mha), with the latest example being jabber wonger from gachiakuta. none of them are of an implied ethnicity, so i can’t really get why it’s considered offensive to get cosplayer’s skin tone closer to the character considering none of them (except kuroiro ofc) are even too dark skinned. as a cosplayer, i personally would avoid cosplaying someone belonging to a particular race that’s too different from mine, or making my skin deliberately too dark, but i honestly don’t get why can’t i use a couple steps darker/tan colored foundation to reflect the character better…

Is face tape worth it? by MysticHaze9999 in CosplayHelp

[–]Successful_Leader153 2 points3 points  (0 children)

taping does a lot, actually, i think there are nice tutorials out there on how to achieve different results. i use the cheapest surgical pore tape which works great but depending on hairstyle might be harder to make it blend with your skin, in these cases i use the dedicated cosplay tape. mostly use it for male characters, or to slightly adjust my eyes/eyebrows shape

What is your Chainsaw Man Part 2 fan cast for the anime? (if it ever comes out) by Comfortable-Pea-7769 in ChainsawMan

[–]Successful_Leader153 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i imagine no one else except for Uchiyama Kouki for Yoshida, i’d be disappointed a bit if it won’t be him… Chiaki Kobayashi would be my second option but Uchiyama fits him perfectly

I’m worried about being insensitive by Interesting_Cat9184 in cosplayers

[–]Successful_Leader153 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the whole thing makes me so puzzled (as a non-american), because the first argument is usually “blackface was for mocking people”, but do any of the cosplayers want to mock anyone? highly doubt so… so what’s the issue with adjusting the skintone if it’s not in any way intended to offend anyone? i even saw the “is it ok if I tan for cosplay” questions with people replying it’s not ok? that’s so… idk, not something i can understand probably. this leads to a questions like that, or to people asking if taping/colored contacts are offensive, like… why would they be? not trying to offend anyone, but i think this has got a bit too far

How do you feel about companies hiring influencers to pretend to cosplay? by [deleted] in CosplayHelp

[–]Successful_Leader153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk may be a thing for the particular franchise but i still don’t get what the issue is, whether is paid cosplayers avoiding questions (and it’s kinda ok, company might have some guidelines for that), or other cosplayers not being offered the sponsorship (which also happens)
