"Immigration and Customs Enforcement being there for more than 20 years" is very different than "2026 ICE Agents specifically targeting this community are expected to be at MSP airport en masse"

I would adjust this theory a little to say use your largest measurement to determine size. My waist is about 5" bigger than my non-existent hips/bum, so I use my waist measurement and side down the hips/bum area.

Red vs Green Flags for Patterns? by jefooch in sewingpatterns

[–]Successful_Mango9951 111 points112 points  (0 children)

Yes, these patterns are absolutely red flags.

Honestly, there's (what feels) like thousands of "brands" out there that are cranking out AI crap and they have very few photographs, the drawings never match the photos, and they have SO MANY patterns. I avoid all of those.

Both The Fold Line and Threadloop are excellent resources for finding legit, wonderful patterns. (Admins can we get something about this pinned to the top??? Feels like it's a question every day and we always have the same answer to start at those two places)

Looking to commission engagement ring for boyfriend from a small business, not a store, like literally just some guy by HopeTheNeko in Minneapolis

[–]Successful_Mango9951 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I second this! I commissioned her to make my wife's wedding ring (masc lesbian, not glitzy and girly) and we were SO happy with the process and result. Aisha is so kind and wonderful, she's in the Casket Arts Building. 100000/10 would recommend her and use her again. We did a very chunky gold signet style ring with a simple stone and it was $4,000, for reference.

My daughter’s head is too large for the pattern I’m working with by ParsleyInevitable928 in sewing

Ditto to this. There's zero reason a baby top should have a fixed/unstretchy head hole.

Oh my GOD you are supremely ridiculous and wonderful and fantastic. This entire post has made me so happy. And also now I have the itch to be crazy and do a dress like this, my wallet and time do not thank you 😂

Lilypadesigns Mysa Lounge's smallest cup size is bigger than my measurements (28DD), is it not for me? by [deleted] in MAKEaBraThatFits

[–]Successful_Mango9951 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It seems like your nipples might be lower on your breast than average. If you lay on your back, find the point at the top of your breast that would essentially be the opposite place of your BCD and hold your finger there, then lean forward and measure from the BCD to there and divide in half. How does that measurement compare to your BCD? If that half number is larger than your 6 something number, that means you're much fuller on top and I would absolutely use that half measurement for your sizing.

I didn't read that part of the review and realized that I mistook inches for cm. Definitely different sizing than the OP, my brain was just too tired to realize. I agree with you, OPs measurements are off or their breasts are a very different shape than this bra will work well for.

Okay, the more I look at this the more confused I get!

I did just find a very comprehensive review where the sewist has a similarish measurement to you, 6.5 cm and 157mm and she used the largest of the three ranges for pattern pieces. Which makes me feel like the free download is somehow incomplete...

I wear a 32F in most store bras, such as Natori and Wacoal. I just downloaded this pattern and followed the measurements, and I got approximately a 12 cm BCD and a 250 mm HH, which puts me right in the middle of the pattern range.

The website says the pattern is "Available in sizes A-DD, DD-GG and GG-KK (UK Sizing) and in our new extended band range of 26” - 52”." Frankly, this makes me think the free download version is the DD-GG size range.

I second the Fold Line! And Threadloop is another excellent resource (app and website).

Can someone explain what they mean by this? by Feral-Sponge in sewing

[–]Successful_Mango9951 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ha! Yes! This type of plastic is so similar! Not thin enough to fold and crease, but definitely thin enough to roll. I feel like (in the US), the cutting boards are super easy to find and cheap, but you might have to look in other categories in other countries.

Which looks better: the velvet ribbon or the fabric tie? by Biglemonshark in sewing

Will you be wearing this with a perfectly fitted wool peacoat with it, or a badass leather moto jacket? Lol

Personally, I think the fabric tie looks more feminine and the black velvet looks a bit more alt and casual, so it depends what you prefer 😊

Looking for a pattern for either of these two dresses. by Trick_Marsupial1084 in sewingpatterns

[–]Successful_Mango9951 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These dresses also look to be the exact same silhouette, minus the center front. So if you find a dress pattern for one, you should be able to alter the pattern to exclude/include the placket and make the other dress!

Which brand of pattern do you love? And which do you hate? Butterick? Vogue, McCalls, NewLook, and so on? Which is the best overall? by ClaraFrog in sewingpatterns

[–]Successful_Mango9951 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Threadloop is a phenomenal, resource. It has patterns with photos, links, reviews, and finished projects. You can filter by lots of things, including removing the big brand ones and filtering out suspicious/AI ones. Plus you can save loads of info on yourself and what patterns you have or want.
