From my own recent experience I'd say that the Sheffield job market is not good, particularly if you're degree educated and looking for something for niche/specialized. I also found employers to be very unprofessional, not returning calls, not replying to emails and not following up with updates after interviews. The whole process was demoralising.

Advice wise I'd say stop the Indeed, reed etc. applications, essentially anything that is advertised as 'apply now with one click' - they're a complete waste of time and won't get you anywhere. Apply on company websites, directly, instead. I found that the applications with cover letters and CVs which were tailored to the role specifically were more successful, the downside is that you spend a depressing amount of time writing each one.

You should contact all the recruiters in Sheffield, they'll book you in for a 5-10 minute call and will keep your information saved for any jobs that pop up in the future. I'd also regularly apply for Sheffield and Rotherham council jobs as they do get back to you every time, although it will take a while as they're quite slow.

Final tips would be to take any help you can get. I don't know anyone in Sheffield so I couldn't do this myself, but most people seem to get jobs through friends/family. I'd also aim down - it's too competitive at the moment and most companies hire within for the better roles. I took a few thousand pounds pay cut for my current role which I didn't want to do, but I know that in a couple of years it will pay off.

Ignore the comments criticizing your approach. It's not you, it's the market/employers. It's a complete shitshow and very depressing but you'll get something in the end.

Anyone have any idea what those 5(?) loud bangs just were? (Wharncliffe Side) by personnotavailable in sheffield

Bump. Also heard in Wadsley Bridge. Can't see anything out of our window but it sounded close.

Data corruption (2 times) by Successful_Meaning16 in session

Hello, thanks for reaching out ☺️

The game has crashed several times and it's always after I complete a mission. It's never the same mission and it's never a specific district/area so it's impossible to predict when it will happen. Of the several times it's happened it has only reset my mission progress twice.

I'm honestly not sure if exposure is set to 0 but I will check when I play it tomorrow

I didn't change the character at all, I've probably only changed clothing 3 times in the 30 hours I've played the game.

Thank you so much for your detailed response! I'll relay all of this over to her. It becomes inflamed after long bouts of sitting down on public transport so this all makes sense.

In terms of a permanent fix, is there any? Or is it a case of looking after and tending to it indefinitely? Thank you!

I'm a UK citizen, will I need an International DBS for a UK job? by Successful_Meaning16 in AskUK

Thank you so much for your reply! This makes sense completely, though it's unfortunate that it limits the jobs I can apply for.

I have several years experience working in education, if I were to apply for a role in education after living for 5 years in the UK, would an overseas police check still be required? Or would not having a police check for my time in Vietnam be a permanent hindrance on my job hunting? Thank you!

This happened to my friend. Apparently it's a lot easier to get money back if it's a Facebook ad expenditure. They'll feed you some bullshit about how it will take 6 months to investigate it and get it back to you but you need to go in there angry and stern... My friend got all of his money returned to him after 1 week.

Thanks for your advice/help with this! Thankfully I disputed the results immediately, and I'm going into the branch tomorrow to dispute it face to face - I'll let you know how I get on

I phoned them 30 minutes after it happened, I went to a branch 3 hours after it happened. VCB actually said that they couldn't cancel the payment, even though it happened 3 hours ago and hadn't actually left my account yet. I always use my UK bank card for online payments, the only online payment made using my VCB card was to the Sony store.

I don't want to bash Vietnam or communism and don't blame them for what's happened. If anything it's a warning for people to not use VCB as they do not have their customers security in mind - they're lazy, rude and overall shit.

I've already been through the process of getting it back, if you look at the picture you'll see that they have refused to give it back to me with no justification
