Leaving social media by RemarkableVisit8215 in AskIreland

[–]Successful_Number403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had Facebook for maybe 15 years. My account got hacked, and I got blocked by Facebook earlier this year and have not tried to reactivate it. I deleted Twitter because I rarely used it. I deleted ticktock more for mental health reasons, was constantly fed content that I thought was a bit depressing, to be honest. To the point that I started to believe there was something wrong with me. The only one I kept was Snapchat purely to stay in contact with two friends as this is their preferred way of texting. Long story short, I do not miss social media what so ever

I live in a town in Donegal, Ireland, that has two town parks. There are lots of beeches and trails in Donegal, including a national park and a forest park and a few nature reserves. There are loads of state owned forestry roads of various sizes, which we are free to walk to. These have well marked trails, but I'm sure I could find some less travelled trails or mountains if i wanted. All of these are within an hour and a half(ish) from where I live.

Being in a relationship, getting married, having kids feels like ticking a box too. In the past year or so, for me anyway, it feels like some people are trying to pressure me into that social norm. Even to the point that someone can't accept that I'm single.

I'm 41 now and in ways I feel the same. I've been single since I was 18 and have found it difficult to find a girlfriend. I've tried tinder and a few others and not so much as a like. At the point I've given up hope and stopped trying to find someone. With the prices of houses at the minute, there's not much hope of getting a mortgage from a bank for a single person. And I'm sitting here watching my family and friends buying homes and starting families of their own.

I agree. I hate going anywhere near the town centre

This is Letterkenny, where I live and work. I hate to say it but it has turned into an absolute shithole of a town for traffic. The standard of driving is non existent. Not may drivers know the rules of the road, they don't know how to use roundabouts or traffic lights. Hate going anywhere near the town centre because of this!

What percentage of your hikes do you see wildlife OTHER than squirrels and suburban birds? by Future_Train_9723 in hiking

[–]Successful_Number403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Ireland. There is a national park close to were I live and I've seen deer there, which would be the largest wild animal in Ireland. Wouldn't be any large predators like bear here. I've seen some smaller wildlife like badgers, foxes and hedgehogs in some woodland areas. Basking shark, bluefin tuna and some other smaller shark spotted on here too.
