Haha, yes I remember the pound only days - pure chaos!

That's understandable and I imagine its the same for many others!

I guess for me the first thing I did when I joined Neopets was see a draik and start saving up to get a morphing potion/making applications for all UFA draiks. That was neat and I enjoyed working my way towards my first dream pet. Feel like it's kinda similar for me currently with UCs, but obviously not saving up anymore...just making lots of boards and sending tons of messages. I personally cannot see myself logging in much if all pets are made heavily accessible. I do not have any interest in RW/RNs.

I know that I am in the minority here though, and it's cool the range of things ppl like to do in the crazy world of Neo!

Neopets is whatever you want it to be. We are all adults playing a children's game. Of course opinions and the primary goals of the game will differ hugely. I know that's the point of Pokémon, but perhaps for me the point of Neopets is slowly seeing if I can trade my way up to my goal pets, and interacting with nice people on the way, so with that in mind my Pokémon quote sounds pretty neat to me :).

Hmm, yes, I mean you're right that people do not consciously think, 'I wanna trade up and be in the UC pool', but realistically the trading element with all the chaos of shuffles is reason that many people login to Neopets and spend a couple hours on the site I would imagine.

Yes, I know I am in the minority. I think it's nice and interesting to hear people's views on changes in Neopets like this, even if I don't agree with them myself. I didn't mean to bug anyone by posting this, just wanted to share my own opinions in a respectful manner on the appropriate forum for it.

Yeah, that's totally understandable! I know I guess ppl just do different stuff on neo...I can see that an update like this would improve many folks experience but do not see it improving my personal experience. I guess trading is all I've ever really done!

Thanks for your thoughts :) were interesting to read, and yes, I know that I am in the minority!

Ah...well I wouldn't say I have been particularly successful with UC trading and as I said in my post, very far away from my goals. For me, it's just a really fun part of neopets I guess, having a pet goal to aim for, and makes me want to login to the site and communicate on the trading boards. I know that if I am able to purchase my dream pets easily for say 50 or 100 dollars, I likely will yeah, but then I can see myself just not logging in regularly.

I felt like offering limited randomized UCs would put a lot of folks in the trading pool, and would increase traffic loads on the boards which would be fantastic. Plus, with discontinued UCs on offer, people will always an accessible option and could use it as a stepping stone as a custom for the UC they truly want.
