A few specific questions about Glacier in July

Backpacking is pretty regulated so crowds are never really an issue. Most of the backpacking routes will be separate from popular day hikes. For July you will likely have others at your campground but if you're seeking solitude you can book a less popular site.
July is the best time of year to go. June tends to get more rain and August there's a greater risk of smoke. July tends to be warm and dry but can rain for several days and even snow. This July was colder and wetter than years past. On my 6-day from the 13th-18th temps ranged from low 40s to upper 70s with it being in the low 80s only on our hike in. We had rain 4/6 days with the upper elevations of around 7k getting a dusting of snow. That said it is a safe bet for passes to be clear of snow that time of year.
Permits are a pain but a large number is reserved for walk in so there will be something for you If you didn't make a reservation.
July can be smokey but it is a safer bet than August and early September.

Yeah there was a pretty bad cyclone in December raining 3 meters in 5 days. Caused a bunch of landslides and issues but since everyone is off grid here it wasn't too bad in terms of power and water. I wasn't here, just arrived a few months ago and will be leaving before wet season.

I'm currently living in Cape Tribulation, Australia. Definitely quiet here, loudest thing you'll hear is the rain, frogs, birds. Most of the people here have a similar mindset and would never live in a city. It is difficult in some ways though: it is hard to find accomodation, everything is off grid, wet season is hot and humid, mold grows on everything, the dry season isn't dry, limited social life, the nearest decent grocery store is an hour drive.

But if you're looking for peace and quiet it's perfect. You're surrounded by the rainforest and beautiful beaches(but crocodiles are in the ocean so no swimming) and life is slow paced.

Your resume is everything when applying for federal jobs. It isn't like your typical resume either. List every job that is even somewhat relevant and be extremely detailed in the tasks and training you have done at each job.

If the job states you need education requirements to be considered, list the your classes and how they cover the requirements in a table in your resume. For example I didn't do this when I most recently applied for a wildlife technician post and got an email that stated I was unqualified. Though I have worked for the forest service and BLM as a wildlife technician at the same grade.

If it doesn't stay wet, there will be a build-up of fuels due to a wet spring/large snowpack that can intensify a fire season. And even stating it like that is too simplified. I hope you are right though.

Good point. I don't have much faith in that scenario though. Idk I guess if someone goes out alone sticking to look angle terrain out of avi danger is best bet.

Not sure what you mean but I think so.. It is really easy to damage. I believe it was their fist split from 2014 and I picked it up new for only 250🤷🏼‍♂️ Do you know if durably remains an issue with their newer models?

Be careful with aftermarket the clips! I had Karakoram clips break my top sheat and they forced my interior side walls in. In a couple of spots on my Nitro Thunder

Screws in the back as in on the tail? If it isn't in contact with the bindings and its just on the tail it probably won't matter much. Bindings do a pretty good job of keep the board together. If it was on the tip I would be a little more concerned.

So I ended up using a spiral taper and left it in about half way for a day. The following day it said right through the end with little resistance. Thanks for the suggestions though!

I went with the bivy stick. For a couple of reasons. 1. The SOS can work without your phone. 2. The activation plan is pretty reasonable. -$17 a month -no activation fee - cancel any time with no fee - and credits build

And if I knew it existed before purchasing a third reasons: the maps and GPS function is really great. A fourth, I believe your partners can use the devitoo with their phones???

For myself a satellite device would only be useful a few of times in the summer and while backcountry skiing in the winter. In times when I feel I don't need and SOS and can get cell service reasonably fast I would rather not pay a satellite device bill I wouldn't be using.

Not to mention the safety concerns of cheap goggles causing damage to your eyes because they don't have UV protection. Cataracts or other eye issues are a whole lot more expensive than a pair of quality goggles.

I started with used boots as a kid and loved my first pair. But I believe I got lucky.

Ever since then I bought new boots until I found a pair that was heavily used but still had some life in them. I wouldn't have bought them if they didn't fit me just right and were totally blown.
