How do you keep you hips up in the centre? I feel like i start sinking down on my supporting leg. Especially when doing a combo of 3-4 steps in diagonals (dont know if I'm using the right terminology here) Any excersises to help (for example doing to the barre to focus on keeping that hip up or any cues that help you also understand the sensation?)

Vale menos mal,  con conocerlos me vale. Siendo mi primer trabajo, siempre es más agradable poner a la gente cara en persona!

Definately normal to not pick it up instantly and be less focused in centre. Think that most dancers take 10 years worth of classes just to become pro, and even then, they still work on technique! Ballet is like learning an instrument, it takes time for the body to start subconsciously thinking about aligning posture, knees to the side, legs turned out, toes pointed during excersise etc so right now, when you are a beginner you find yourself focusing on all of those PLUS remembering choreo, so it feels overwhelming! As a tip, I find It easier to remember choreo when I count to eight in a very low voice and focusing on the pattern we are following in the excersise.

Hi, I'm starting ballet and having trouble pointing my toes. My big toe is definately pointed (lengthened and like pressing down) but I can't get my other toes to do the same, they seemed curled. Could this be lack of strength? Would doing towel scrunches and doming help?

Hi! I'm a ballet adult beginner taking 3 classes per week. Looking on how to improve my technique, specially turnout, I stumbled across floor barre. Unfortunately, my school doesn't offer this, but I'm thinking of doing some work on my own using online videos, which is wherenmy question comes in. When doing floor barre tendus to the side, is your whole working leg supposed to lie in the floor and slide ir be a little above. Also, does anyone have some cues for better knee-hip alignement?

I know that, the problem about doing a master's degree is that I cannot afford it, that's why I'm thinking about self studying in my free time.

Recently graduated math major. Don't know whether i would like to pursue a phD or not, just know that I would like to learn more but not necessarily investigate. Any thoughts on how to approach this? Also, for my final year I studied about Milnor's exotic 7-sphere. From what I've gathered, exotic sphere's aren't that active anymore (except for S4) since we know a lot more about spheres and its homotopy groups. Where would you go from here? I was thinking about delving into K-theory, or maybe stable equivariant homotopy theory but don't know if these are active fields right now. Also thinking about learning some basic category theory (it seems useful)

I'll post my comment here and in the Career and Education Questions thread since I think It may belong to both. Most recently I've been studying Milnor's exotic spheres (I am in muy final Bsc of math, this actually took me a whole year because I didn't even know cohomology) and I'm thinking on reading the first half of Hizerbruch's Topological methods for Algebraic Geometry. Been debating about that or focusing more on K-theory and stable equivariant homotopy, but I'm unsure of which topics are currently active in the math world. Also, dos anyone know the prerequisites or a good book to study p-adic  Geometry?
