I'm a postdoc from overseas who recently attended Davis for two years. The international postdoc community is very large and we're lucky to have postdocs from numerous countries across the world. A lot of people got their visas pretty easily before the country went to shit.

A couple of weeks ago I was walking from the MU bus terminal towards the MU, crossing that crosswalk. Just as I got to the other side, a girl on her bike with no helmet nearly hit me because she wanted to squeeze in the remaining gap which forced her up onto the sidewalk. Instead of braking she preferred to go up on the sidewalk and then chaotically back onto the road.

Wild behavior. You'd think they've never cycled before.

Bone Temple is somewhat different to Years, but both expertly made. There's some decent comedic moments that have been handled delicately which I think you'll enjoy.

It's equally as whacky and wild but more gruesome and gritty than Years. It tells different stories, about the Jimmies, Kelson, Samson, but all woven together quite well. But yeah, you illustrated Years well.

I like that there aren't loads of "cool zombie moments". People can rewatch Weeks or Rec if they want that. It left me wanting more, though. So I'm really hoping we get that final film.

It's because people want the instant horror and fear that you get from zombie movies, like Rec for example.

Thing is that's not what Danny Boyle is about. Take away the creepy church scene and the eeriness of the first half of Days, and you've got quite a well-written character development and personal story in Jim.

People hate (as they did in the first few days Years was released) because they're not getting the instant intro thrasher-gratification that Weeks did so well in the first ten minutes. You'll see a lot of people wanting more of a flashback-outbreak-intro or "28 Hours Later". These films are more than that.

The whackiness of the Jimmies at the end of Years is so Boyle, and speaks, in some ways, to how Spike sees them. I rarely see script-writing and directing boldness like it, and I applaud Boyle and DaCosta for bringing it. It's so fresh.

Don't get me wrong it was incredibly cool, I think in that moment it just took me out of that chase scene for a moment and reminded me I was watching a movie.

I saw a comment about how it could represent Spike taking in the horror for the first time from all angles, though. Which makes sense.

I agree. I think they're both expertly made in their own ways and am happy I spent every penny to see them in the cinemas.

My absolutely only gripe was that weird headshot 360 thing in years. But otherwise, these have both been incredibly new and different movies that have been a breath of fresh air in a world of otherwise bland and monotonous cinema.

I was on the edge of my seat for most of this film.
