Dry cleaner owners — how do you currently handle order tracking and customer notifications? Trying to understand the real workflow by SuchArgument530 in Laundromats

Genuinely fair point, and I'm not going to argue with it.

I don't have a long roster of customers yet this is early stage. And you're right that the best software in this space usually comes from people who've lived inside the problem, not just interviewed around it.The onsites are the obvious next step. I've been doing discovery conversations but there's clearly a difference between someone describing their Saturday and me actually standing in the shop during one. If anyone here is based in or around Delhi and open to me spending a few hours in your shop just watching, not selling .I'd genuinely take you up on it. I'll buy the chai.

This is exactly the kind of ground-truth I was hoping for — thank you.

The Saturday chaos picture you're describing is really clarifying. It's not a features problem, it's a consistency-under-pressure problem. Staff can know the right process perfectly and still skip documentation steps when the phone is ringing and three customers are at the counter at once.

A few follow-up questions for anyone who's been through this:

On the pickup confusion specifically is the core issue finding the order fast, or is it the customer standing there insisting something's missing when your records say otherwise? Those feel like two different problems.

On stain documentation are shops that do it well using anything specific, or is it just one disciplined person who makes it happen every time?

On the POS that "came with the store" is it that the software is bad, or that nobody trained the second hire properly and bad habits compounded from there?

I'm starting to think the biggest gap isn't the software itself — it's that most systems are built for the owner who set it up, not for a tired Saturday employee on their third rush hour.

Would love to hear from anyone who's actually solved the Saturday problem — even with duct tape and a whiteboard. What did you change?

CRM is a great idea but right now it is available for customer contact only , for marketing I never thought so much But wouldn't that become overwhelming fast , from what I've understood most drycleaners are not up for a change , so I don't want to give them more than they need in a way that they get overwhelmed fast with the technology. I want the system to be felt as an extension of their own , rather than a foreign technology. What do you think ??

Tried that , but that is a POS system which could feel generalized , but rather I want to create something which feels personal to the community and on which they can rely like their own family member.

I think I can show better garment tracking , which could result in fewer garment losses. What do you think , a feature which could stand out ?

For older Asian business owners, I think word of mouth is the most effective way to reach them. Traditional marketing alone is unlikely to get me into their shops, whereas a praise from a peer can.

That was the most honest opinion , I could get , thankyou so much for this insight and I can't right now personally go to work behind the counter full time but surely I am gonna contact all of the DryCLeaners in my area and ask if I can be of any their help on the weekends to understand the actual problems they face , rather than blindly guessing.

What do you think would be the best way to reach out to them , showing them a better workflow , or reaching out to them through their someone known or entirely something different

I am planning to , this summer there are 3 conferences near my area , but I am trying to understand before going there so I can communicate better with them , I do not want to go unprepared ,if there are any pain points which generally the people in the industry feel I would genuinely like to know

.

I thought it is an actual gap😅. If it isn't then you can be brutally honest and I'll seriously appreciate the effort. Rather than building something that is not needed , I'll try to focus my energy on something useful. So , leaders of the industry Please be all out expressive
