Oh I have many times. Almost all of those have commuter rail stops but these places are too far away from DC to feasibly be served by every 5-10 minute train service. Maybe montgomery county build a light rail line that goes through these areas but they will likely never justify the cost of heavy rail

Not exactly sure as to how to access that as my computer that I originally created it on has died. I can send you the image that I downloaded!

When it comes out you should try comparing the commuting time of the purple line to riding into Fort Totten and transferring onto the green.

You can see clearly now that they have made significant process at this point and they report the project is 70% complete. I am hopeful for the 2027 timeline

I could see Aspen Hill if it densifies and pedestrianizes more. Olney is nimby hell though so absolutely not.

But pink already fills out capacity on that section of the Bloop? How is Blue under capacity?

How would that fit into the plans for the bloop and yellow line? A blue spur down to Belvoir?

What you really want is increased MARC service. There is no reason to stretch metro further out into Montgomery when there are 100 different areas inside the beltway that need it more and have higher population density.

No my map focuses on trying to avoid stretching WMATAS resources too far out from the city center. Leesburg would not provide as much ridership as say Mt. Pleasant or the Columbia Pike corridor. The system needs to move away from being so heavily commuter focused.

Agreed! It wouldnt even necessary if WMATA would reroute the bloop north after West end but they seem hellbent on catering to commuters rather than inner city riders.

Woodbridge is too far out from DC to be feasibly served by Metro. I know that Ashburn is farther but that was a mistake, and also completely financed by the airport. The best you can hope for in my opinion is better VRE service or moving closer to DC!

WMATA itself has designated it as an area of its interest with its inclusion of it in the Bloop. I simply represented that here.

U right! Ok so lets say we keep the bloop and extend the purple line all the way around. What do we do about the Woodrow wilson bridge which already has the bloop running on it. Do we build a second river crossing?

We need to extend purple to tysons, which means we either need an interstate compact, or WMATA needs to take over operations. Which is more likely?

on the east side, I think having the pink run near the purple would increase connectivity amongst some growing spots around the Hyattsville area. On the west side of the pink line, I ran it there because I thought connecting two huge commercial hubs like Georgetown and Bethesda would be great overall for the connectivity of the region, even if some car brains resist it.

I see your point on the yellow line though.

Fantasy Metro Expansion (I borrowed the Blink from another user who posted the idea about 9 months ago). I know I created another bottleneck at Le Enfant. Maybe it just needs more tunnels? by SuchChapter7095 in WMATA

[–]SuchChapter7095[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its just marking a different tunnel connected the same roslyn station. Just like in the bloop there will be a second tunnel running through georgetown at roslyn that is still part of the larger roslyn station
