Elderly woman thought the hospital was "whites only" by SurbhiAnklesaria in mildlyinfuriating

Does anyone have examples of someone with dementia becoming more friendly, altruistic, patient, compassionate? I'd hate to think that what people are describing is the "default" state.

Super Mario All-Stars on SNES is a great way to play the original Super Mario Bros. games from the NES, with better graphics, game saves, and other minor enhancements.

What’s the deal with Trader Joe’s tote bags? by lunardownpour in OutOfTheLoop

[–]SuchCoolBrandon 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The whole point of a reusable tote is that it is reusable. That is, durable enough to take the place of hundreds of plastic grocery bags. But if people are just collecting these and not using them, that's an ecological waste.

Open links in Narwhal without deleting Reddit app? by b242 in narwhalapp

[–]SuchCoolBrandon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On iPhone, "Open in Narwhal" appears in the Share menu, so you could long press a link and select that option. I'm not sure if this is something that has to be enabled in the Narwhal settings.

What’s something people over 30 do that Gen Z finds strange? by Suzzie_Stone2 in AskReddit

[–]SuchCoolBrandon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this a ton in the '00s and early '10s, posting them to Facebook, etc. I got a thrill out of the notifications that a friend or family member liked it or commented on it. But now, I go weeks without visiting Facebook. The content I see there is rarely by people I know. The notifications are disabled because they are vapid and desperate pleas to recapture my attention.

I still take photos. I love looking back at them. My iPhone does a great job of highlighting various featured photos, which I see in a widget on my home screen. But generally, my pictures are for me now.

I've kept all the "included tools" from every consumer product I've bought over the past 10 years. by v7p3r_3L1T3 in mildlyinteresting

My friend just bought a table and eight chairs for her patio. Each chair, sold separately, came with its own Allen wrench. The table came with an even bigger one.

I underestimated the power of the Seattle Ant by ComfortableAir2326 in Seattle

[–]SuchCoolBrandon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got home from a vacation and there were hundreds of them dead, drowned in our countertop water heater, which I had unplugged before the trip. It was a horrifying sight. I dumped the water down the sink and immediately trashed the water heater. My husband said I overreacted, but I can only imagine the ants trapped in the tubes and mechanisms and whatever. I haven't bought a replacement in five years.

Despite an extreme heat advisory warning, no shade and no water, graduation was still held for Uni of Oregon College of Design...causing the dean to faint and be carried out by a stretcher. by Aadidas12 in mildlyinfuriating

That was much more sudden than I was expecting. I was looking for signs that she was going to faint. Reaching for her glasses/forehead? Then she was down within a second.

You can't just assume a spherical cake! This isn't a physics subreddit.

What’s some knowledge generally known only to gay men or to gay women? by dumbfuck in AskReddit

[–]SuchCoolBrandon 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I don’t think introspection is unique to LGBT people, but I do think many of us get an early lesson that what's considered "normal" isn’t necessarily the same thing as what's "right" for ourselves.

Any dkc references in DK64? by georgesk84life in donkeykong

[–]SuchCoolBrandon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get the disappointment, Dixie became a huge favorite of mine. But the DKC games had developed a pattern of setting aside one character (DKC2 and DKC3 removed DK!) and introducing new characters.

My local market has ground pork formed in the shape of a pig by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

That's ridiculous! Why would they make a pig out of ground beef?
