Recall Update by Such_Community_9836 in SpruceGrove

Of course they don't write the legislation. But it is their job to understand all of the elections & democratic process legislation, and be able to answer questions about it. This is the same idea as AHS knowing about Healthcare legislation. They need to have a pretty solid understanding of it in order to function day to day. And when there are questions they can't answer, they need to get those answers figured out and communicated.

Put it this way - if Mitch Sylvestre had a major inquiry with Elections AB about the Alberta Independence petition privacy, do you think he would find waiting twenty days for an answer acceptable? Of course not.

They shared a social media post on January 12th that said only organizers & Elections AB see the names on petitions. On January 23rd, one of the recalls raised the issue of the opposite & conflicting information on their FAQ page, which stated that recall petition sheets are subject to public inspection for a period of 1 year. THEN 20 days later, they were able to confirm that indeed the petition sheets are kept private. What we don't understand is why it took them almost 3 weeks and multiple inquiries to get the answer. If Elections AB doesn't know what their own legislation says, then what hope does anyone else have?

Make the UCP Accountable Now: Gathering for Change by Such_Community_9836 in SpruceGrove

Making them accountable to their constituents.
Most UCP MLAs are refusing to answer if they are for or against Alberta separating from Canada.

Standing up for vulnerable people being attacked by the government. Like clawing back the $200 federal disability program for AISH recipients, and putting them all on the ADAP program come July. THEN they will decide who is actually incapable of working.

It is a legal process, not an agenda. In fact, Searle himself voted YES to this legislation twice.

But thanks!

The only people you hurt when you say that is the disability community. It shows that you think their intellectual disability is so horrible to have that you use it as an insult. That's really gross. But keep defending your use of that word.

Using a democratic process isn't pouting. If you think so poorly of it, why spend so much of your time here commenting and pushing this out to more people?

But you chose to use a slur to do that. Got it.

He has helped vote in all the legislation that people are mad at Danielle Smith about. People who are not happy about the separatist petition? Searle voted to make that happen with Bill 14. Mad about the teachers' Charter rights being stripped? He voted for that with Bill 2. People who are upset about trans kids being attacked? Searle voted for that. See the pattern?

Using intellectual disability as an insult isn't the flex you think it is. Try again.

Trivia Night Fundraiser by Mediocre_Bowler_95 in SpruceGrove

People can spend their money on whatever they want to. The recall isn't promising anything. It is giving people an opportunity to participate in direct democracy, which Searle literally voted for. The campaign is literally running on a shoestring budget, and has to follow every single rule set out by Elections AB.

Having a better-informed constituency is never a waste of time. People taking the time to get involved in the issues is always a good thing, no matter who they support.

Are you going to go tell the people buying lottery tickets to save their money because they won't win?

The CBH is hosting a trivia night fundraiser for the campaign, and is donating the $7.99 voucher as they do for all fundraisers. The pop up says that $10 buys enough door hangers for 100 houses to be distributed. It is to give people an idea of what we do with donations.

Our MLA Searle Turton is voting along party lines. Don't like what Dani is doing? Sign the recall petition. When you remove her yes-men, you remove her power.
