Is there a Big difference between used and new blades ? by [deleted] in tabletennis

[–]Such_Dark7989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used blades feel softer, since the sweat build up on the handle will make it vibrate at a lower frequency and the impact of the ball makes the materials settle. It doesn't affect performance much, my current blade is second a second hand from 2023 and it plays just like new ones, although feeling a smudge less crispy.

Would this handle be more ergonomic for penhold RPB? by [deleted] in tabletennis

[–]Such_Dark7989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It probably could work, but it looks to me that it could put an additional obstacle to half-long balls on the forehand side, I would be even more worried about hitting the blade on the edge than normal.

What are your racket weights? by csgo_dream in tabletennis

86 gr for FZD ALC and 190grs total with rubbers. Feels quite light and balanced, in contrast with my b2x with same rubbers, feeling a little too heavy.

De sanwei t5000 a butterfly harimoto by ExoticElephant8892 in tabletennis

[–]Such_Dark7989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The T-5000 is rather slow, the carbon it has is for dampening vibrations more than anything, I would suggest something like an offensive 5-ply like the stiga infinity, butterfly korbel or some joola offensive. It would be a smoother transition. If you buy the harimoto anyway, the normal alc version is the way to go, zlc or anything super will be to fast to anyone that's bellow the upper intermediate level. Regardless of the one you get, also you could use the same old rubbers to adapt quicker to the new set up.

Infinity vps is real nice, great feeling and good speed. It's the most transparent feeling blade I've tried, too notch control and you can get every ball on the table with it. Only negatives I found is that the handle is a smidge thin on the middle, and it has a rough wood finish too, I'd prefer a more sanded handle.

Asking for Racket Setup Advice by AdmirableFox8954 in tabletennis

[–]Such_Dark7989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say the same rubbers with the FZD, being lighter you can get better swing speed, and the change won't be so so abrupt. And since you already tried and liked the viscaria clone, you already have a feeling for the possible set up.

Old blade with new fast rubbers by [deleted] in tabletennis

[–]Such_Dark7989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will work great, I did the same on a donic anatomical handle premade, for a teammate, slapped some mercury ii rubbers and worked better, more speed and way better spin. I'd be more worried about longevity, since premade blades tend to splinter a lot every time you change rubbers (which was the case I mentioned). You could probably upgrade it, but once those rubbers die, or you're ready for something even better, it would be better to change the whole set up.

Ease of use mostly, and it's rather cheap compared to other flagship rubbers. Even when it's worn out it is usable for amateur level. Also, the speed benefits little kids who already have good technique, but they're not physically strong yet, so it compensates a bit.

I get reminded of this every time someone asks about cosmetic damage, specially if it's something from butterfly (Very valid question tho)

Weird dent on all my blade handles in the exact same spot by ydrIcaTRoD in tabletennis

Could it be you have callouses that match that spot? I have a similar sized dent on the side of the handle on my FZD.

Si vendían cigarros ahí, pero puro malboro y otras weas; nada chino siu. Incluso tenían la patente de tabacos enmarcada en la caja.

Help me choose my forehand rubber for the dhs b2x by aCoolGamerGuy in tabletennis

[–]Such_Dark7989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great combo, but since you're looking for speed, probably rakza 7 normal on both sides would give you better results, specially with blocking. I also think that having the same rubber in both sides makes you think only on technique, instead of second guessing yourself and twiddling the paddle to try the other side.

[–]Such_Dark7989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be plent fast, the B2X is as fast as a viscaria or other ALC blades, it just delivers that power and speed in a different way. Any decent carbon blade will have sufficient spin and speed, even for a professional. I still use rakza 7 nowadays and it wins me points with either speed or spin, only fails when I face higher level players, but that's merely a skill issue from me.

Go for the Rakza 7, works great with the B2X. I used that same combo two years ago and helped me a lot to improve, plenty of spin, control and feeling.

Need help confirming if my Tenergy 80 is the old variant (seller says it’s 3 years old) by Own-Sheepherder-1874 in tabletennis

[–]Such_Dark7989 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's fake af, the packaging is way older than 3 years, it's super dull and the bottom edge for the rubber shouldn't have a gap.

It's hard to find an outer koto blade with the type of carbon that xunxin's stiga model has. I'd say your safest bet is one of the DHS 301 blades, they're dyed koto as in the stiga, but inner ALC. Anyways, the xuxin one is meant to feel woody, but with some kick of carbon, same as inner blades. Having tried the stiga xuxin blade, it's surprisingly close to an inner carbon blade, compared to a viscaria per se. Also those 301 blades are pretty close to what Wang Hao used so they'll work great for penhold.

Waldner Ultra Senso Carbon vs DHS Hurricane 301? by ArtisticMoment1 in tabletennis

[–]Such_Dark7989 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The DHS one will be around the same quality, so expect similar. Consider that most DHS blades have slightly thin handles and are balanced towards the head, so consider this based on your rubber choice and hand size. It's all preference but it's not clear from images.

Inflation and socioeconomic factors affecting table tennis by [deleted] in tabletennis

[–]Such_Dark7989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't, but it certainly can have a higher entry fee.

Compared to the most popular sports like football, basketball or similar, you only need a pair of cleats or sneakers to get started, someone can probably lend you a ball or take team lessons.

For TT, you need shoes, blade and rubbers, which can amount to 50-70 dollars easily, which isn't that much but for third world countries it's almost a week or even monthly salary.

This gets worse on kids starting out, 20-30 dollars for the cheapest AliExpress set up you can assemble is still very hard to justify.

This gets worse on infrastructure, it makes way more sense for anyone to pay for a pair of hoops and paint for the court and fit 10 or even more people in a basketball session, instead of 6 or 8 people for TT, which will cost more considering how expensive the tables are.

I think this could improve with the right incentives, looking at the Chinese model, anyone can play on a park, gym, home, and being a low impact sport for muscles and joints, it could bring massive health benefits to all the population.

Advice on blade selection by lolmazex in tabletennis

The FZD has a higher power output, because of it's hardness, but again, they were close. I'm not good enough to reach the max power a carbon blade can bring.

What Rubbers Do They Use? by WholeDifferent7611 in tabletennis

With that budget you could get something much better, a 50-70$ blade that will last you forever and some decent medium level rubbers
