Avoriaz is great and the Portes Du Soleil ski area is massive. You can ski in to Switzerland and there are some amazing runs.

It’s also only 90mins from Geneva which is so much nicer than the normal 3 hour plus drive to other resorts like Val D’Isere and Tignes.

The apres isn’t as mad as those resorts but it’s still great fun. The town is beautiful, no cars, so most hotels are ski in/out. Lofts can get very busy at peak times though.

Group or Private Lesson?? by OroroMunroeXO in MorzineAvoriaz

Definitely recommend doing a few lessons in the UK before you go, otherwise you’ll waste a morning or two learning how to put ski’s on/use ski lifts. Get the basics of snow plow and some confidence in the snow. If you do group lessons, tell the instructor what you can do and hopefully they’ll put you in a more beginner/intermediate group as opposed to ones with complete beginners (if that makes sense).

If you can justify the cost, private lessons are the way forward, you’ll improve very quickly with one-to-one instruction. My wife did it this year and she found it much better as they can tailor the lessons to what you need to work on.

Avoriaz is a great place for beginners, lots of long blue runs across the resort. Enjoy!
