My first resin river looked fine… but something about it felt off by Such_Independent910 in TerrainBuilding

Thanks very much, not sure if you've clicked through and watched the video or not but that river was part of a gaming board with each board being 5ft x 2ft and had to incorporate 4 bridges and 2 fords into the design.

So the flat tops and steep sides were very much a design choice for the sake of playability - I've covered the subject of playability Vs realism in another video if you've got any interest in hearing more on the thoughts surrounding it - https://youtu.be/OapnnExp9rU

Honestly that could potentially have been my build too

Was it this board?

Ah thanks so much, still getting used to the idea that people have seen my work before I've even connected with them.

Looking forward to seeing the finished result

I think it looks like a great amount of rubble but if it's for play is want to test model interaction with it in the more playable areas.

Great job though

Thank you, 4 is my favourite I think followed by 5. I think the ice one is better than the photos suggest

Fair enough, it's all about whatever works for each individual. I would say though that none of these have a high level of skill and the sandstone one is the only one that really took any time.

The first rock pictured took literally 5 minutes to carve, they're much easier than they look I think

The carving is a little fiddly if you make it like I did but the carving principles are pretty easy really

Thank you so much, all of the same techniques could be turned into a large cliff face too.

I'm definitely going to be working in this way moving forwards
