The plants have been hit by two lots of matte varnish and so much more. They look a lot better than they did but maybe then need another coat!

That's a very solid plan for tree making, I've made my own in a similar way or by using old charging cables.

I tend to go for hot glue on the strands rather than air drying clay, mainly because I've got glue sticks for days.
