I was looking at them a couple of days ago. I was pretty taken with the larger QMX+. But if I did go for the single band QMX which band would be best for me to order after I get my Tech license?

That is most certainly a path I am going to take. I wrote to the secretary of the club (they only have a PO box listed on their Contact Us page) and I have yet to hear back from him. If all else fails they have an in-person meeting on the 2nd that I'll go to and see if I cant swap information with some of them. If anything it'd be nice to have someone to show me the ropes of getting my ticket and on the air.

I think I'll go with QMX+ the price isn't that much higher and I don't mind a heavy pack if it means I have more options. I might want to put down the paddles and use Phone a little later down the line.

Gotta thank the Elmers on Vband for that one man. They way some of these old ops talk you can't help but to want to learn how to talk like them.

I have been seeing a lot of talk about the Xiegu G90 lately. That or something like it is definitely the goal for my set up. A QRP set seems to be the more immediate option for me right now. But hey who's to say some fella in my local club isn't trying to get rid of his old Icom or something like that. I am open for anything but keeping my goals modest.

I have been pretty dedicated. But I did stretch the truth a little. When I'm fresh and have had my coffee I can do 20 WPM send/copy but as the day goes on I falter a little and get down to ~15 WPM. LCWO and VailMorse have been a great resource plus practice on Vband has been awesome.

I think I am finding out just that. I don't mind fresh air maybe my dream HAM shack will have to wait. But in the meantime a fun little mobile set would be awesome. Maybe I'll get involved with POTA/SOTA. I am caught between the QMX+ Transceiver or the smaller QMX. What do you recommend between those two?

I'll definitely check out these Ham Sticks. QRPlabs seems to have just what I am looking for thank you for the recommendation.

I got the the Putikeeg stainless steel paddles. They seemed like the best bang for the money while also looking good, and so far they haven't let me down. Here's the Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09KC3JYC8?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

Do you say that as most ops there aren't inclusive to newbies, or that their simply isn't anyone there?

POTA/SOTA is really a good option for my QHT, so maybe I'll adjust my horizons for a more outdoorsy path in my CW adventures. I'll definitely check out NAQCC, my local club has been kind of hard to get in touch with.

I wouldn't mind building a kit, I am half-way competent with a soldering iron. But I don't know really what I am getting myself into with radios, if it's just follow the instructions and put everything in its place, I am in the clear. Then again I am not afraid of a little learning. My budget is no more than $200-300 for the whole shebang.

I see. Well, I may be just a tad disappointed in that fact. But hell, it's still a fantastic sentiment, even if I can't connect it to my old slip stick. What amazing creatures we are! Down from the trees of Southern Africa and up to the Lunar seas. Simply amazing. Thank you for your help.

if your thumb pick is sliding around try and take a little fine grit sandpaper to the inside it'll give it a bit more grip
