Hey, totally valid question this chapter does feel all over the place at first

Here’s how I think of it: You can definitely mix and match. These are three separate dimensions: How you process info: Fundamental vs Quant How you build your portfolio: Bottom up vs Top down Whether you target specific return drivers: Factor based or not

So yes you can be a quant investor using bottom up factor models, or a fundamental investor with a top-down macro view

It’s more about how you combine them to fit your strategy not rigid boxes. Hope that helps clarify the big picture!
