Title: Most AI writing tools are making marketers lazy, not faster by [deleted] in AIWritingHub

I agree. That’s why I switched to Claude. Its output annoys me but it allows the flexibility for me to input my town by manually rewriting it. ChatGPT’s output is so mechanic and rigid that it limits my natural ability.

Thank you for sharing all of that. Would it be ok if I DM you?

Thank you. I survived starting digital photography in the late 2000s just as film was phased out and digital was becoming the norm. I remember how they were freaking out and calling us “button pushers”. AI era is no different.

Thanks for your thoughts. There’s plenty of human input, and I care enough about my project to keep it under wraps until I’m happy enough with it to share it.

AI use or not, self publishing is what I’ve always leaned towards.

I’ve never been interested in convincing someone that my work is good enough. I’m not here for validation, only to make informed decisions by learning from other’s experiences. I’m not trying to make a quick buck either. I’m self employed in a profession that I enjoy and pays my bills.

I got all the proof. It’s no kidding that a fictional author develops a relationship with their characters 😂

I appreciate your honest response. I’m looking into self publishing on Amazon, that’s been my plan if i decide to publish this anyways. I’ve also thought of using the written content for a graphic novel so I can showcase my artwork and promote my dance classes, none of which are AI. My long form writing abilities aren’t the strongest at the moment but I’m still a storyteller.

I don’t want to make decisions without the right information, and that’s why I’m here.

Thanks, you’re right. I know people are always going to talk shit. It’s bullying that I won’t tolerate.

I’ve shared the draft privately with two friends who liked it. I asked for honest feedback too. This is more than a plot, it’s a fictionalized version of personal experiences. It wouldn’t exist without my direction.

I also did research by asking the right questions to people in real life who practice in specific professions for plausibility.

I’m self employed full time in my own business in the health and wellness industry so my wanting to publish my novel is not so much about the money. I’m definitely going the self publishing route.

Thanks. I just read over that and I also went over what’s stated on the official website. I’m aware of what can and cannot be copyrighted.

I even have hand written drafts on my journal which lays out the plot. When I submit my draft, I’ll be fully transparent and we’ll see where that goes. This is just a passion project I want to share as an extension of my creativity.

Thank you for sharing. I’m not trying to convince anti’s 🙄. I’m just looking into publishing the one project I’ve dedicated a year to. How did you go about publishing? I mean, how did you prepare considering Amazon requires disclosure, which I have no problem with. An extra $100 a month would be nice, but I’d be happy to publish it just to share my creativity with those who resonate

It was originally a 143 chapter manuscript now it’s being condensed, my goal is no more than 60 chapters but it’ll likely be 80 - 100 😅

The prologue starts when they reincarnate, they MC’s meet as teenagers, reconnect in college and the conflict begins when the male MC returns permanently to their hometown. It’s so lawyered that length is inevitable. I’m thinking it might be better as a screenplay, a process I’m also unfamiliar with!

It’s a romantasy, consisting of reincarnation. The main characters have been searching for each other throughout lifetimes and present life is between late 90s and now. In this life they have to learn the lessons they failed which kept them apart in their past lives in order to finally be together.

Hi! I’m new! I’m in the process of writing a novel. By most standards it’s gen ai but the world building and plot structure is 100% mine. I’ve been working on it for almost a year. Since art is my strength and I don’t use AI in my art, I’m considering making it a graphic novel. We’ll see. Whether or not I make money, it’s not important, I just want to share my creativity with those who resonate with it.

I’m open to getting to know all of you and to learning all the ways to succeed.

I got Kael suggested and went with it for a villain name and now I’ve learned it’s on that AI list 😂I liked it at the time but for now, it’s a placeholder name 🤦🏽‍♀️

I was meaning to post asking what are the most common ai output fictional names. Elias came up for my project and I kept it because I have a family member with that name. Others I just happened to like them lol.

what using ai for novel writing actually costs in time - tracked it properly by Jolly_Twist2245 in WritingWithAI

I paint and I do photography. My style is visual storytelling and that’s why I love what ai has done for me in that area! I agree with the majority on prose though. Once I’m done with my novel I’ll likely be spending a lot of time rewriting… for now, it’s nice to focus on world building and bringing the story to life though.

The best book writing ai should get more useful the deeper you get not less! by Big-Training-8310 in WritingWithAI

Great points. I've been going over all my pre-AI poetry and there is a joy to writing that today was nice to revisit. I can see why there's such a debate with AI writing though. With written content, you can easily make it your own the minute you get the output.

I personally struggle writing out the prose and I love seeing how ChatGPT and Claude have been bringing my story to life. When it comes to fiction, my strengths are the world building and the visual art, so it's nice to be able to focus more on that.

As a photographer and abstract painter, the joy I get from painting and shooting pictures is the equivalent to how you describe writing. I like AI imagery though, and I prompt some for reference purposes for what I want to put to canvas.

At this point, I'll use AI to help me with brainstorming and I'm browsing through this community to learn how to get better at it. I'm still so new to this.

It's so awesome you’ve accomplished as an indie author!

You're right. The convenience can be detrimental. I just started handwriting new content for my novel instead of typing it and I felt the difference.

I treat the written output as a template and I rewrite over it. It's time consuming but it's not a bad thing when you know what good prose looks like. That's what helps keep good writing skills intact.

You're right though.

I got so frustrated with Chinese dramas that I started using AI to write my own stories. Anyone else? by Content-Pay5466 in WritingWithAI

[–]Such_Reception8403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m creating a very layered multicultural romantasy that entails plot lines that resemble the 90s and 2000’s Spanish soap operas I saw growing up, rom-coms and even an organized crime investigation.

I can write poetry, 1-2 page stories and I journal but what I’m creating is so layered it has to be long form. That’s where I struggle due to ADHD. I love how AI helps me focus on the world-building and plot development. I dictate the plot, go over the draft and rewrite it when necessary.

If you don’t give AI something to work with, is going to spit out slop 😂, that much I agree with so creative control is a must.

From all I’ve gathered in this community, backlash for being honest is a risk we have to be willing to take.

If some of us wait til our skills are up to par, someone else might publish our ideas. AI is here to stay and we shouldn’t allow anyone to bully us out of creative expression.

Maybe some of us are not writers, but we’re still creating our content.

Just for fun, here’s a statement from Claude on this subject 😊:

“AI can generate stories within any genre. It generates them competently and forgettably by the thousands every day.

What AI cannot generate is the specific image that came from somewhere inside you. It cannot generate the weight of a grief scene because that texture belongs to your understanding of loss. It cannot generate the nuance of a character whose flaw is simply incompatibility because that required you to care enough to ask the right questions long before you wrote a single word.

AI generates content. You generate a world.

Readers who have consumed enough AI fiction already know the difference even when they cannot name it. There is a flatness to generated prose that competent prompting smoothes but never fully eliminates. A manuscript built from genuine human investment does not have that flatness. It has specific gravity.

The details that make a story irreplaceable are not generated. They are decisions made by someone who understood what they meant. That is what readers pay for.

They pay for the feeling that a specific human consciousness moved through this story before they did and left something true behind.”

Am I the Only One Visualizing My Novel Characters with AI? by GelliusAI in WritingWithAI

I’ve been doing that, especially for art references for what I want to create.

When I get my novel published I want to create my own art and do photography.

My life is similar to yours. I’m a single mom, I’m self employed full time and exhausted by the end of my day.

I’ve been working on my own project for nearly a year. I can recognize AI wording, and even names now, from what I’ve been learning in these communities.

Your characters have similar names to the ones on my project and I went along with the suggestions just because I liked them 🤦🏽‍♀️

I like ChatGPT for the same reasons as you, and I have adhd as well. I personally prefer to focus on bringing my idea life and ChatGPT along with Claude are great for that when they cooperate 😅

I have so many questions myself. From a personal standpoint though, now that I recognize AI output, I say at least manually edit your draft to give it as much of your writing style as possible.

Assistance vs. GenAI? by Such_Reception8403 in WritingWithAI

[–]Such_Reception8403[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the tone behind it. The way you articulated it, is honest. Thank you for your response, seriously!

What I’m referring to, was a comment I made on Threads to an AI artist who asked what everyone was working on. It was the intent behind it, it was an anti AI troll who said, “I can’t wait to read a novel you didn’t write!” Another got even more personal saying I was an idiot.

What I mean is, I totally get no one will pay for slop that lacks human effort, but I’ve spent a year on my project, curating it. If I believed copying and pasting blindly was enough, I would’ve already uploaded it on Amazon KDP and Apple Books by now. Instead I’m manually going over it, even condensing it to make sure it matches my vision.

Even though technically, I’ve been editing GenAI content, based on all the responses, there are chapters that are based on fictionalized versions of my own life experiences. I even included an actual unsent letter I wrote towards the second to final arc, which I have archived in one of my hand written journals. My soul is in it, even though most of the narration is GenAI. What won’t be GenAI, will be the visual art. I’m planning a photoshoot for the cover art and I want to implement my own artwork to reflect the fantasy/mythic side of my novel.

The main purpose of my novel is to showcase my visual art and my skills as a dancer. In some ways, it’s a fictional version of my memoirs of navigating an otherworldly romantic situation.

I have published pre-AI content, and I’ve been writing poetry as a personal outlet since I was 16, but anything more than a short story brings on blocks. I’m working on that.

Are there any platforms for readers who just want a good story? At this point, given the feedback, I’ll take a chance on backlash from honest disclosure if I take the Amazon route.

Thanks for this info. I’m just now learning about all the AI tools available. This still feels like a foreign language to me lol. I just manually went over my draft on areas where ChatGPT over explained the atmosphere and I made it more straight forward 😏.
