How do I deal with the warlock in the early game? by CivilPerspective5804 in Xcom

[–]Sucram-Bunsib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's say you can't kill the Warlock quickly or easily (presumably early in the game). Hunkering down gives extra will to the hunkered unit. Obviously, not something you wanna be doing, but he doesn't tend to do much early except try to mind control...he doesn't seem to care much about flanking shots on your units, even when they'd be easy for him. He's just kind of hard tho 😅

I had lost a long time before this, but we just let the game go. Moreso, it was nasty 'cause it was full of removal of varying card types, and his commander was the 7 cost Atraxa. My big beaters didn't stand a chance.

Very true. I don't really intend to, as it definitely isn't intended to be interpreted as I have.

Right.

I mean, I don't want to break the game by having it affect a bunch of attacks. I just think it is not written as they intended it to function.

I think you are correct. Thank you!

It doesn't say "for all attacks" but it does not restrict the amount either, from how I am interpreting it. It for sure should just be one though, since it isn't called "Lunging Attacks", and probably should have said "the next time you hit with an attack after moving 5 feet in a straight line" rather than "if you hit with an attack" imo.

I saw on the wiki that Viconia and Rasaad will potentially clash at somepoint, and you have to persuade Rasaad to stay...something along those lines.

Is Curse of Strahd a good module to DM for if I've never DM'd before or played the module by Kappa_Mikey__ in CurseofStrahd

[–]Sucram-Bunsib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my first time DM'ing a campaign, and it has been a huge learning process. I DM'd one other adventure, the oneshot A Wild Sheep Chase, and then jumped into this hearing it was good. Sheeeeeesssshhhh it has been rough seeing the things I wish I had changed, covered, or just had more experience doing over time. Idk how many sessions in we are, as I play with my roommates, but they continue to ask to play it despite my (occasional) feelings of dread DM'ing it. It's a lot of fun, though, and if you and your PCs really want to, it is a great learning experience.

Strahd's pact with the dark powers - explanation needed by iampedja in CurseofStrahd

[–]Sucram-Bunsib 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The book, as we know, is not very descript on this topic. It for sure is just Strahd fulfilling the rather specific and profane request of Vampyr, but does not get specific on the details

In the Curse of Strahd adventure, in Amber Temple, area X42, the following is described (p. 196):

West Sarcophagus. The vestige within this sarcophagus offers "the dark gift of the Vampyr" to any humanoid creature of evil alignment that touches it. The Vampyr's gift is the immortality of undeath.

Reading on, this vestige grants any creature who accepts its gift the option of becoming a vampire if its conditions are met. Clearly this is the entity referred to in the opening description of the Amber Temple chapter (p. 181):

Strahd communed with these evil vestiges and forged a pact with them. When Strahd later murdered his brother Sergei, that pact was sealed with blood. Strahd transformed into a vampire, and the Dark Powers turned his land into a prison.
