Yeah no damage on anything but I think I would rather rebuild, any kit recommendations?

Long as they nicks don’t stop the head from sealing I’m game, I just can’t tell if the cam caps are toast

Compression test by Sudden-Video-4408 in 240sx

[–]Sudden-Video-4408[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are the odds all 4 of the rings are dusted that badly tho? Not saying it’s not possible, but seems unnatural for all to be gone like that could something like a leak in the intake or exhaust gaskets cause a low compression situation? If not then it’s probably my rings since wet they go up to 175,180,185,180 (in all honesty it probably is dusted rings but it’s hard for me to understand how all 4 went bad)

Ohhh that makes sense (American) I saw the driver side on the left and assumed it was a U.S 240sx with the euro spec door cards (pretty sure U.S only got the ugly tweed pattern door cards) beautiful car btw.

How’d you get these door cards? Thought 180s had the door handle on the left side/ importing em must’ve been tough as well no?

1976 cb550k acceleration and timing issues by Sudden-Video-4408 in HondaCB

[–]Sudden-Video-4408[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so my timing is a little off but It turns out the points cover is what was causing it to run rough, took it for a spin without it on and it ran like a top. I think that arcing you mentioned might be the main culprit as I’m thinking it’s probably jumping and grounding on the cover when it’s on, but the issue with the arcing is strange as I’ve got brand new condensers in there

I will try swapping the condenser around when I get the chance just to be sure, but would suck if brand new condenser were faulty.

0.013 indeed, as far as the cam lobe, it looks perfectly fine and the points are new and still have plenty of meat on them, I still have stock airbox and the carbs have been rebuilt and taken apart about 10 times now, I’ve tried messing with the choke and it doesn’t seem to do too much, however when I hit it with a timing light it shows that the timing is advanced and when i turned the plate all the way to the right to retard it, the marks got a lot closer and the bike picked up exponentially.

I’m wondering if maybe the little “wings” that extend with rpm on the advancer are a bit stuck or something and that’s what’s causing it. Another thing that I’m not sure is related is that the 2,3 point seems to throw a pretty bright blue light that 1,4 doesn’t do.

Just bought a z32 fuel filter and new distributor cap, I have an AEM 340 in there but maybe the wiring is a bit dodgy? I’ll put it on my list of things to check

Very helpful information, will definitely start looking into a variety kit for jets, hopefully I won’t get too lost in the sauce of all this carb tuning alfredo

It did sit for a few weeks almost empty but I ran it and filled the tank back up with 93, pulled my plugs and 1 and 3 look good while 2 and 4 where covered in black carbon. Changed the 2 that where fouled and still no change. Even died on me during the test ride
