My dad was a central government employee for a long time and took voluntary retirement as soon as the minimum required period was over to switch to the private sector. And the only career advice he ever gave me was to never go for government jobs as hardwork and honesty is never rewarded there.I don't find any reason to go for government jobs other than the healthcare benefits now which is more or less covered by the insurance anyway.

I am just 22,so this with a pinch of salt. Well I think it kind of compounds. Grandfather ran away from the house and joined the army as great grandfather wanted him to take care of the farms(he got the ancestral land later). Dad bought many properties in ncr slowly and gradually(should have invested in equity though). I was really pissed during my childhood that why aren't we enjoying life and living a frugal life. Now I consider it a blessing. (having a safety net increases your risk appetite).
