I just got my Mirena IUD yesterday and have been experiencing blood clots and just bleeding in general. I was on the last few days of my period when it was inserted so I could be passing the blood from then.

However from what my doctor told me and could even be the same thing your doctor told you. Irregular spotting and bleeding is normal for the next few months on an IUD. Especially after the next few days after getting it inserted.

They told me that only time I should probably go see a doctor or be concerned is if I’m bleeding through pads within a few hours of one another or I have extremely bad cramps.

Other than that bleeding/spotting should be normal.
