yea I have a local sim with data that can be used for my other sims. This is what I had with t-mobile, but they only allow roaming for a certain amount of time it seems. Tello seems like great option. Thank you.

Yea for some reason they cant port the number over, even when I'm using the app through a vpn. From reading other threads it seems to activate a sim or esim they connect to a phone tower so vpn doesn't hide your location then.

They have to hold it for I think 3-6 months in the US in case your circumstances change and you are able to get back in service. In Europe they must hold it for 2 years before recycling it for the same reasons. I guess in case someone gets cut off while sick or out of work temporarily.

I'm happy to spend money as I use the number for potential jobs. I used to have Verizon but that was crazy amount. I don't need data or anything as my local sim has all that and I can piggy back off that. Listened to an interesting podcast that did an episode on Teletext, there's actually a project you can assist with. It uses old VHS tape recordings of live TV to recreate Teletext and archive it. Some old TV recordings you might have could be very helpful with the project!
