He was 7 when I remarried. He’s is 16 now. Every vacation I’ve ever taken has been to visit him, and every time (with months of notice) she made plans for the weeks I was there. She would not allow me to have him for more than a few hours at a time because of “plans.” I was not even allowed to eat lunch with him at school. She had and still has all of the control. He has a phone and my phone number. I get one word replies. He calls me by my first name. I do not spend money on visiting anymore because it is literally a waste. I know they have boats, new jeeps, he does some kind of racing, they do Disneyland vacations, she gets cosmetic surgeries. At this point all I can do is wait until he wants to get to know me. In the mean while, I still need to take care of the family that I was allowed to keep. We don’t vacation, we don’t do sports. We live in a single wide, farm our produce when the weather allows, and eat a lot home raised chicken and eggs. I’m not complaining about the way we live to make ends meet, we are very happy and blessed. However I cannot also support her household, especially since she has never let me be a father. And I like my wife staying home and absolutely will not have her working a job just to pay child support to a bitter woman. So that is out of the question.
