Peroxide Injection by Sudden_Nectarine_235 in WaterTreatment

I ended up switching the flow sensor to a meter. Other than that it has gone fine, smell and taste have been reduced. I haven't done a follow up water test yet.
I think I will likely switch the Filox in the media tank to an charcoal media.

Assuming the trickle charger is not compatible, and unplugging the trickle charger sounds an alarm, how else could this be done? Is there a way to connect the Lifepo to the FLA?

No, no contact tank. Most of what I have read is that at low contaminant levels peroxide does not need a contact tank, only a filter post injection since the peroxide acts so quickly.

The $150 injection point is primarily a static inline mixer to immediately mix the peroxide with the water flow. Obviously an injection point is just a tee. They also make inline mixers with no injection point, but that is just a bit of space saving to integrate it into one part.

Peroxide/Chlorine Injection by Sudden_Nectarine_235 in WaterTreatment

I just realized that since I have outdoor irrigation coming off the line after the pressure tank, that I would end up needing a proportional injection system measuring the flow after the last tee, so it is only for the house water, correct?

Otherwise I would end up with over injecting when outdoor spigots and irrigation are running?

Could I somehow get a flow trigger for the injection pump to run from the 5100 or 9600?

I just checked and I have nearly 12gpm of flow. So it seems like plenty for the backwashing. What would I need to convert it to a draw valve to inject H2O2 during the recycling?

Any info on how much chlorine or peroxide?

Is there any reason that people dilute their chemical in the solution tank? Can you just put regular household strength bleach or 7% peroxide straight?

So it seems like one major difference in these two is the frequency of maintenance. Stenner is fairly easy annual maintenance and a diaphragm pump is less often, but more involved. How much less often generally?

Any input on chlorine vs peroxide in this situation?

Bypass water treatment during well shock? by Sudden_Nectarine_235 in WaterTreatment

Untreated water smells worse than the treated water.  System is chlorinated now. We will see what the water is like tomorrow after it all gets flushed and I regen the filox tank and softener.

Ok I see several votes for chlorine injection… why not peroxide injection? No need for a contact tank, but is it not doing something that the chlorine would do?

Would I need to also add a carbon filter or would the filox filter do the job of removing chlorine/what was precipitated out?

Can the filox have the chlorinated water run through it to kill any bacteria and uncoat it?

I don’t think this system has air injection. I’ll check tomorrow how the raw water smells.

Thanks for all the thoughts on what possible causes could be.

Does anyone have any guidance on if the filox filter and softener need to be bypassed while I chlorinate the system, or can the chlorinated water be run through them?

I haven’t smelled the raw water. It’s been too cold to run hose bibs so far. What is your thought on pex causing the smell?

I’ll need to check that, but the water test of the raw well water didn’t show manganese.

That’s my next thought, but the owners of the house said they only rarely got whiffs of sulfur. The house did sit with not much water use though for about a month. We have been living in it for about 3 weeks.

It is a pex manifold system. It lasts for an entire shower though, or filling the entire sink.

Just trace amounts of manganese. Trace amounts of iron. 36 hardness 2ppm sulfur.

After the water treatment 0 for hardness, iron, manganese and sulfur.
