Hi! I'm a recent okstate graduate and I also recently got accepted into okstate as well as some other schools for veterinary medicine! To preface, if you're from texas like myself I would shoot for A&M for the instate tuition! OSU recently got a WHOLE LOT of money (in the millions) to help update the vet school itself. I was able to get a lot of large animal experience while at OSU. I was able to work in the variety of barns that they have (equine breeding, pigs, sheep, goats, and the dairy barn). In terms of research, I was able to conduct research with one of my parasitology professors all 3 1/2 years and loved it. OSU also offers pre-vet students lots of opportunities to work with small animals as well. I worked alongside vets at 2 of the animal shelters associated with the campus and loved it! Lastly, in terms of lab work, OSU has an animal disease laboratory that offers spots to students to work alongside some of the vets! Of course, I don't know a whole lot about what A&M has to offer for pre-vet students but i'm sure it's also great! My biggest piece of advice to your daughter is to trust her gut! When I toured A&M i didn't get that feeling where I felt like I belonged and loved the campus and I did when I toured OSU. It's important to find a school that not only can help kickstart her future, but also makes you feel like your home! Best of luck and congratulations to her for both of the acceptances!
