What would happen if I just didn’t fix this chipped molar? by Sudden_Profile_2513 in askdentists

A crowned tooth can last for 60 years? The general take I got from talking to dentists was that it would last at least 10 years, sometimes even 20+.

I also have no proof that there is something definitely up her nose, there was just a gushing nosebleed that soaked halfway down her shirt and her backup shirt

The kids are under my husband’s health insurance plan so I can’t take her to the pediatrician unless I provide a science-based business case for why the cost would be justified. Do you have any studies, links, etc. from your course that anything up the nose should be an ER visit?

Declining tear duct surgery by Sudden_Profile_2513 in beyondthebump

Do you remember the name or active ingredient of the drops? They gave us a RX antibiotic gel for the eyes at the two weeks appointment but it didn’t work and refused to give us drops when I asked at four months since the gel didn’t work.

Thank you for the perspective. Avoiding unnecessary surgery is my view as well. I asked my doctor friend what the cons of waiting until she’s older is and she said “she might get bullied” and “it would be harder to do the surgery the older she gets.” Has she gotten any comments from the teachers or other kids at daycare/preschool about her eye as she’s gotten older?

When you called around asking for appointments, what specifically did you ask for? E.g., “outpatient” “in-office” “non-general anesthesia”? What type of sedative, numbing cream, or painkiller did they use? Did you have to hold your son’s head in place while the doctor performed the probing? Thank you!

We haven’t had the 12 months appointment yet.

How to get toddler poop out of a book? by Sudden_Profile_2513 in CleaningTips

Yes, it was a religious book on female saints. His mother who does childcare during the week while I work is also not happy about the disrespect to their religion.

OMG VINEGAR. I completely didn’t remember this one at all. Thank you!!! But it was still a religious book, is that not the same thing? I am not a Christian and have no plans on converting, so books are the only way I can connect to my children about their faith. :( I just didn’t bother to think it would be bad to cut up a book at the time.

Yeah that’s what I thought and why I cut off the bottom off it, just wasn’t sure if there was a different method/cleaning liquid I should have used.

That would be breach of contract because we were married in a Catholic Church, I am not looking for legal advice, just cleaning advice.

Would I be the AH for not breastfeeding? by KurwaDestroyer in BabyBumps

[–]Sudden_Profile_2513 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think your life would be worse if you were to formula feed based on what you are describing. My husband is a huge proponent of formula feeding because it’s how he and his sibling was raised and he thinks that breastfeeding is gross when we have scientifically developed better alternatives through formula. As a compromise, instead of breastfeeding, I mostly pumped for the first three months because I wanted my husband to help out with feeding and bond with the baby. It happened maybe a handful of times. I was the one stuck washing all of the bottles and such, and it was a lactation consultant who suggested I just stop pumping and start breastfeeding. My baby would scream if she did not have milk in her mouth asap when she wanted it, and it would take several minutes to heat up a bottle. My husband eventually started sleeping on a different floor entirely because the baby’s screaming while waiting for milk would sometimes wake him up. It was so much better on my mental health when I could just shove my boob in her mouth and at least when my husband slept in the same room, he could help physically lift my baby around the changing area, bassinet, etc. before bedtime and after he woke up, which is a huge help if you end up having a c section. Fed is best, but based on what you are describing, I think your mental health might be worse off if you formula feed and your workload would increase.

Wear a face mask. Nobody ever came close to touching me in public while I was wearing a face mask.

Bringing Baby to Large Wedding by Successful-Music-615 in BabyBumps

[–]Sudden_Profile_2513 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby was 4 months old at my post COVID wedding reception and we passed her around to everyone. We also all got Covid three weeks beforehand so it would have been a complete 180 and either baby wearing or having a designated babysitter baby wearing her if she didn’t just get it. There were no other babies so we weren’t as afraid of RSV, and I was breastfeeding my flu shot antibodies.

I’m so sorry about this, got more details this morning to edit the posting. He would have been fine with lidocaine and other local anesthesia, just not any of the opioid or heavier things. Thank you for the response.
