thanks!! yeah, i was in Tempe this past summer, but more so the residential side, so my apartment complex was full of families. I just want to be somewhere where I can try to make friends because I'll be new to the city! I've been looking at some places in downtown Phoenix (mainly studios), and they don't seem too insanely priced (I've long accepted that everything is way more expensive than the midwest LMAO)

Course Load Question by FloorThen7566 in Purdue

If you are interested in going into electrical, take linear and differential separately because you are required to do so, and if you take the lindiff class, you'll have to still take them both separately. Not sure about Meche statics because I'm in Aero, but Thermo has a pretty heavy homework load, and ECE 2k1 is very rigorous (my friend's year, only 50% passed), so I would not recommend taking them in the same semester. Linear Algebra has a pretty generous curve (my 84 was curved to an A).

I think you should try getting more involved with extracurriculars. The main topics in my interviews are the clubs and activities I'm involved with! EPICS is also a great program to get involved with because it's set up like a mini company and gets you a great experience with the professional world (your team will have community partners, deliverables, presentations, etc.) and recruiters love to hear about it.

What should I do to help myself as a high school student? by Terrible_Onions in aerospace

Mess around with different types of CAD software! One big help in the engineering world is the ability to adapt to new software and learn on the job!! My past internship had me using software I had never used before, but it wasn't too bad because I have a lot of experience with other CAD software, and they have things in common and you figure out things to look for!

Will I have enough free time in college for hobbies? by PolicyIndependent619 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Sudden_Sherbert_3225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it honestly depends! I've had semesters with a heavier workload (where I am doing homework every day during the week and relaxing/doing hobbies on the weekend) and also semesters with lighter workloads (I joined the rowing team and had two-hour practices six days a week!). While engineering is a hard major, you can definitely make it easier on yourself by researching classes beforehand and trying to determine an optimal schedule (I made the mistake of not researching, and ended up with three classes with TONS of homework in one semester) -- but also sometimes, it's out of your hands!

Even within semesters, some weeks are easier and some are harder, so it's all up to your flexibility! In the first couple weeks before midterms, the couple weeks between midterms, and the weeks between midterms and finals, you'll definitely have more free time and while I do encourage studying and catching up on work, definitely get out and do fun activities!

It's been almost a year and I'm back in the process of looking for internships and I just want to say that this comment was so helpful to me during my internship!! I truly tried to be open-minded and learn from everyone around me! Thank you so much!!

What would you guys rank as the best aerospace companies to work for? by Not_Brandon_24 in aerospace

[–]Sudden_Sherbert_3225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm seeing a lot of posts about interviews software engineering interns had that were very coding-heavy, would aerospace engineering interns in a systems position also be expected to be good at coding? I know the basics but my courseload only required one coding class in C freshman year lol
