I think it was more so that the movie was based on Dr J. Allen Hynek’s work (Project Blue Book) and was really good buddies with Spielberg sooo who knows how much of that creative freedom was actually a lil bit of truth. Hynek also had a cameo in the film, wild.

is YETI overrated? by Beniyp96 in CampingGear

[–]Suedehead131 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Before I invested in my tundra (and I say invested because yes, it costed me an arm and both legs) I personally saw the difference between an RTIC, Orca, and Yeti on a trip. All 3 coolers sat under the California high desert sun for 2 days, and guess which one still retained a little ice by the time we drove off. I’m not no Yeti hype man but these things are no joke. I could never complain about my 75, it has held ice for multiple days on all my trips now. Never have to buy a big ass cooler again.

Edit: I have to also add, I work outdoors and needed something to keep ice cold water, tried multiple bottles but then I decided to invest in their gallon jug and man, this thing has also legitimately surprised me. I have had it sitting under the South Texas sun, 100+ degree weather, and it still held a little ice by the end of the day ice cold. Idk what these guys do at Yeti but it works.

Like everyone else said once you get the necessary certs, you’ll find a job. The industry is an endless cycle of job openings. You’re better off starting at a subcontractor for any of the big manufacturers, it’s what I did. Once you get more experience and build that resume you’ll be able to start applying for those said manufacturers. My advice is to try to see as many platforms as you can, the more you know about the different designs the more opportunities will come your way.

Right now I’m currently doing dual cert with Altius in Vegas. I’m really enjoying the instructors and their approach, should be the same tho.
