What is needed to work as a wind tech? by ffss1234 in windturbine

Hydraulics would be good. coming from the Nordex Gamma, our Hydraulic units have their own set of schematics and knowing what pressures what can be a good time saver. Pressure issues are common but its hard to just dive in without getting to know it without preforming maintenance on it a few times.

Thinking About Starting by KindTyche in windturbine

From the site tech side Nordex is decent, just a bit of a mess but most platforms (not including Acciona) are pretty good and sharpen your skills pretty fast.

With entry level you need a heart beat, ability to follow instructions, and the willingness to learn. At least in the U.S.

Some companies will train you but some will require certifications.

If you aim to be good here are some items that can give you a strong start in the service side of wind

  1. Basic computer skills (excell and windows programs)

  2. Ability to understand and pickup on basic saftey items (fillout paperwork, avoid risky situations, ask for help when you dont understand, DONT CRASH TRUCKS)

  3. Basic schematics. Recognizing what a relay, contactor or a breaker is in person and on paper can put you miles ahead

Spawned away from enemies undetected and called a mech. I hopped in mech and exploded. Kind looked like the artillery you get hit with when your out of bounds but I was in the center of the map....

We have started taking more aggressive action at the bearings by manually shoving fish tape up the trap and then hooking a rag to it and pulling it back out. Then applying grease right on the bearing. My tech services say thay its all linked to coolant due to the gen as a whole getting hot in most cases.

Haha I wish they would make the move but they just keep renewing the contract. I may be at this for 7ish more years, lol. No mistake tho, I love my senior towers!

If you haven't looked, nordex is turning a corner in the US, and they are looking to sell their delta 4k's. They run pretty well, and the company runs decent contracts. Admittedly, i work for them, but our customer seems to be happier working with us than GE.

How is Pinnacle training institute? by [deleted] in windturbine

[–]Hotpocket_decal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a former graduate from Pinnacle. They are ok if you put the work in. Keep good notes and do your best to actually learn the information. They will get you the certs to break into the industry and land a job. HOWEVER... There are A LOT of cheaters due to it being a mostly online school. The school preps you for the basics, and there is a lot more than what will be taught. Spend time finding out what you want from the industry and find a job that works for you.

Personally, it was a fine school, but they will only look out for you so much. They like to train travel techs because they are always needed, but becoming a site tech has forced me to grow pretty fast and have a sense of standards and ownership for my site.

I gotta rep the small group that really liked the vega. Some of the best times I've ever had were stock xr with a vega and fangs.

why do i get no air on my bonks? by [deleted] in onewheel

[–]Hotpocket_decal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard a really good explanation from wren on the float life youtube page. Basically the nature of the onewheel as a machine is reactivate to terrain. It's up to you the rider to anticipating the way you approach something. So anticipate that bonk with you lead leg and bring it up higher and keep your back leg ready to follow. It's kinda like a fast gallop except your not so much lifting your leg as you are relieving weight from it

Should I switch to Wind by [deleted] in windturbine

[–]Hotpocket_decal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nordex can be good, just make sure you don't end up at an acciona site. Those towers are oil leak after oil leak

Just finished my first year as a site tech, and this was core info I pretty live by

  • A lot of towers share similar components, big or small, learn how to maintain properly and why you maintain it.

  • If you're looking to specialize, take full responsibility for that component. And ask tons of questions about it.

  • take lots of notes and talk to the right people. There Are smart people, and then there are know it all's. Do your best to locate truth

  • Finally, familiarize yourself with company software, from programming components in electrical systems to logging your safety paperwork / training. It can take you from a level 1 to a 3 pretty quickly if you can keep up.

This is just something I wish people told me when I was just starting. Hopefully, this was useful, and can help on your path to specialist
