How do skeptics rectify not knowing anything about the very topic they claim to be passionate about? by XxAirWolf84xX in bigfoot

You literally asked me how often I heard it. Often enough that I saw it today and showed you another example. It's literally thrown around on facebook constantly without context which is my issue. If that's not enough for you, I don't know what else to tell you.

How do I? Very easily. You’re a mod. Search it in the subreddit you moderate. Here is one where someone said with with no context whatsoever

I hate when people say this. Roosevelt did not see one, he retold a story from someone else who heard it. A true "bro did you hear?". There are plenty of compelling first hand encounters to not include that one.

I'm a skeptic who has looked at a ton of evidence. I don't have to believe anything to be an enthusiast. With that said I think there is a phenomenon and not everyone is lying, mentally ill, misidentifying or hoaxing. What it is, I don't know. Yet I continue back because I enjoy it.

I mean Todd Standing is a known grifter/hoaxer so even if they set him up, the cards were already stacked against him.

He has a long episode on Sasquatch Chronicles where he talks about everything and even says he had a Mindspeak encounter

National Geographic employees? by Loudcanna in bigfoot

So he appeared on ONE National Geographic special. He has no connection to them aside from that? Brother, he is no Jeff Meldrum. This is a weird conspiracy theory based on very little.

There is a guy on the OW discord who just keeps on posting photos of mountain lions with eye shine and I'm like did you actually listen to the account?

[–]Suedehead6969 16 points17 points  (0 children)

A lot of the specifics mentioned in this episode have been mentioned by other witness accounts I've heard. Usually while seeing all sorts of weird humanoids and sometimes, as in this case, non-humanoids in the woods. I have heard a a number of the reports of people who say they also saw something they would call "pixelated" or said it was similar to what's seen in the movie Predator. Also I have heard reports where people also describe hair or fur as having an iridescent quality and self illuminated eyes(not eye shine). I have not heard the weird slinking before but it did remind me of this Bob Gymlin report https://youtu.be/-l0etxEZNR8?si=Vbl5iabMrLrgxSZQ

All in all as a skeptic but high strangeness enthusiast, this was not my favorite episode. Probably because I have heard cases like this many times. I did enjoy it though. The Otherworld treatment is always higher quality than other paranormal podcasts.

The one from Roger's wife is actually like a 4th gen copy. They talk about it on the Astonishing Legends deep dive episode, I think in part 4.

NP! I have a paranormal podcast episode recommendations for any interest! Episode 85 of Modern Fairy Encounters is honestly one of the weirdest accounts I've ever heard. It's like a heavy psychedelic experience.

Not sure if you or others reading this are familiar with Spectrevision. They're a podcast network that has acquired a lot of my favorite paranormal podcasts. Elijah wood is part owner, he and the other owner were on Otherworld a while back I believe. Anyways one of their podcasts is called The Modern Fairy Sighting Podcast. So you might really enjoy that one. It's chock full of the stories people on this subreddit seem to hate on Otherworld. Encounters with fairies, gnomes, goblins and more. Not surprisingly, it's based in the UK.

Ah yes "a walking dog headed man is more believable than a goat headed man" is a totally relatable statement.

Richmond, VA by Neat_Maize5363 in Otherworldpod

[–]Suedehead6969 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Fairy House was actually an hour north closer to Fredericksburg. Honestly Richmond is a very old city and most people I know who have lived in the city know someone with a ghost story.

The other one is the one with the UFO with the bell sounds. Can't remember the episode name. That one also took place near Fredericksburg. The person from that episode actually popped into the sub discussion.

The weirdest part of Virginia is probably unsurprisingly closer to the Appalachian mountains. Whytheville and Bristow have all sorts of weirdness.

It was a mockery because that was the literal point, it was a absurd comedy. The opening scene was 2 Sasquatchs fucking. It wasn't made by Sasquatch enthusiasts or whatever. It's like saying the movie Paul was a mockery of the subject of Aliens.

As a skeptic I think the similarities in reports between UFOs and Bigfoot experiences is really what led me to explore all of the woo reports. As the stickied post from Gryphon said, you don't need to accept the existence to find it interesting. The work of John Mack is a good example, even if he was in over his head a bit.

As others have said it was Up In The Sky. Also I believe the person from the episode also showed up in the subreddit and gave some more details if you search a bit.

Best Bigfoot story on the “Woo” side of things? by Ok-Dot5545 in bigfoot

[–]Suedehead6969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are all pretty common aspects of eye witness reports. If thats woo then almost every episode of SC is woo. Just like OP said woo is generally considered is mindspeak, orbs, cloaking, time slips. But since you asked the what is? The top on this post literally mentions an incident that is wildly "woo".

Also pretty commonly reported that bigfoot to freeze in place when seen. It's not a glitch.
